About the Role: Margot Robbie becomes Ann Burden, a woman who has survived the apocalypse and survives in the only place untouched by radiation. Despite being in a world where people probably can’t be trusted, she shows compassion for a man who ends up bathing in contaminated water. She shows love and adoration for this new partner in her life.
That all becomes a mess when another man, Caleb, shows up. Has anyone ever said that three’s company?
Simply the Best: There are many post-apocalyptic movies out there, but none quite like this. Rather than focusing on how or why the world ended as we know it, we’re thrown into the aftermath. Margot Robbie is our leading woman, taking on a role with a Southern drawl and showing plenty of heart, determination, love, and passion.
With Chiwetel Ejiofor and Chris Pine as leading men opposite her, it would be easy to be overshadowed However, she acts rings around them with her range of emotion. The love story may be somewhat predictable and standard, but there’s an element of thrill and danger.
It’s certainly not easy to make a movie with just three characters. Some people will get bored, but this movie makes the most of its small cast and it’s certainly worth the watch.
