How did the Mayans M.C. win Chucky in a game of cards?

Early in the first season of Mayans M.C. we learned a heated poker game played a significant role in the fate of Chucky. What exactly happened?

Chuck ‘Chucky’ Marstein, friend of the SOA. Or property of the SOA? Based on how Chucky ended up with the Mayans M.C., he was more property than friend. It’s sad, honestly, because he really felt like part of the family.

So what exactly happened? What were the exact circumstances that landed him in the hands of the Mayans M.C.? We can only hope it’s part of a future episode, but right now we can at least guess.

A simple game of cards

Very little is known about how Chucky “patched” over from the SOA to the Mayans M.C., but we know for a fact it occurred via cards.

The question at this point is who lost Chucky and who won him?

Based on what we know, Chibs Telford (Tommy Flanagan) is unlikely to have lost Chucky in a card game. He was always a little more caring. In fact, he was downright fatherly at times to Juice (Theo Rossi).

Process of elimination leaves Tig (Kim Coates) and Happy (David Labrava). Honestly, it could be either person. Tig is completely deranged, but has a soft side. It’s often a perverted soft side, but remember his history with Chucky. The Triad offered Chucky back to the SOA, but the offer wasn’t accepted until Tig suggested the chronic masturbator as bookkeeper at Luann’s porn studio (in retrospect a pairing suited for zero productivity).

So all roads point to Happy losing big at the tables and betting Chucky. It makes sense since Tig thinks he’s normal when he’s around Happy. (“You know why I like teaming up with you Hap? Because when we do, I’m the normal one.”)

As for who actually accepted a bet involving a human, there are three top candidates. First, Coco (Richard Cabral) is insane. He’s killed at least two members of his own family. Then there’s Angel (Clayton Cardenas), who wanted to fornicate with a severed head. Last, but not least, is Neron “Creeper” Vargas (Joseph Raymond Lucero), who we don’t know much about yet, but must have earned his nickname somehow.

Even after considering the game, the winners and losers, the real mystery is whether or not Chucky was happy about it. Maybe once Gemma was gone it didn’t feel the same any more? After all, in their parting encounter he said, “You’re my best friend, Gem.”

Next. When does Mayans M.C. Season 2 premiere?. dark

My money is on Happy and Creeper. The former because he’s not right in the head, and the latter because it works well for a future episode calling Chucky’s Mayans M.C. ownership into question. Leave a comment if you think it’s some other combo!
