6. Lagatha is dealing with pain and loss

Lagatha has lost Kattegat, but that’s not all that important in the grand scheme of things. She also had to make the decision to kill Astrid.

Granted, Astrid begged for Lagatha to kill her. Astrid had found out she was pregnant. Of course, King Harald believed that he was the father, but it’s hard to forget that Astrid had been raped by a number of men when she went for help to get a message to Lagatha. She had no idea who the father was.

Astrid also fet guilty. She’d chosen the opposite side to Lagatha and it was clear there was regret there. She wanted Lagatha to end it all.

And that’s left Lagatha full of pain, loss, and regret. The last we saw her, she was crowded in a corner in fear. She knew the battle had been lost and her home was gone. Ivar was winning and there was a chance death would come for her.

What does that mean for Vikings Season 5B? Lagatha does have an ally in Heahmund right now and she has Hvitserk, Ubbe, and Torvi on her side. Will they all be enough?

5. Harald killed his brother

Harald and Halfdan found themselves on the opposite side of the war. While Harald wants to be the king of all of Norway, Halfdan wanted to explore and found a friendship in Bjorn. They became like brothers, almost dying together. When it came down to it, Bjorn had made sure Halfdan got out of the desert alive and that was the start of this brotherhood.

When it came to the battle, Halfdan chose Bjorn over Harald. When the two brothers met on te battlefield, it was clear that one would die. These two were nothing like Ragnar’s sons Hvitserk and Ubbe.

Harald was victorious. What’s to come next? Does Harald regret his actions? That’s going to be something we’ll have to find out.
