Doctor Who: Jodie Whittaker confirms Season 12 return but no companions?
By Callum Gunn
Jodie Whittaker has confirmed that she will be back for Doctor Who Season 12 but her companions are nowhere to be seen.
If you have been hearing rumors that Jodie Whittaker is stepping down from Doctor Who after only one season you can go ahead and ignore them. Those rumors have been proved wrong as Jodie Whittaker has officially confirmed that she will be back for Season 12 of the sci-fi series. But her companions are still in the dark.
The Yorkshire actress confirmed with The Hollywood Reporter that she will be back in TARDIS for another season. Doctor Who is currently in its 11th season, which is to come to an end this Sunday. A New Year special is planned rather than the annual Christmas day special after the season finale. Doctor Who Season 12 is expected to begin filming in 2019.

The Doctor’s companions, however, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham are MIA in the report. No mention of any of the companions is made in the report, raising the question of whether they will back or whether the Doctor will have no companions come Season 12?

Doctor Who has traditionally gone through companions faster than it has Doctors. However, companions do last a bit longer than one season, apart from the odd exception, so it would be a shock if the series was to drop them so quickly.
Chris Chibnail has made a lot of changes to Doctor Who since coming in as the new showrunner. Most notably the casting of Jodie Whittaker. Having so many companions traveling at once with The Doctor is a significant first as well, along with other, smaller changes. So taking out all of the companions somehow wouldn’t be a huge stretch of the imagination.
What do you think? Should we be a bit concerned that we might be losing all, or some, of our new companions in Doctor Who fairly soon? Drop a comment below sharing your thoughts.
Doctor Who Season 11 wraps on Sunday, Dec. 9 on BBC America.
