We are counting down the best Christmas movies to watch during the holiday season. Number 17 on our list is family favorite Arthur Christmas.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year to watch movies, there are so many good ones! The Hidden Remote team got together and we came up with a list of the 25 best Christmas movies and created a ranking. Coming in at number 21 on this list is Arthur Christmas.

Arthur Christmas came out in 2011 and is a family-friendly Christmas adventure that gives a different take on the classic idea of Santa Claus. In this movie, Santa Claus is a title passed down through the generations of a family to the eldest male son.

When the movie starts, it’s Christmas Eve and Santa (Jim Broadbent) is finishing up his high tech Christmas present delivery, his last before handing off the title to his oldest son, Steve (Hugh Laurie). However, everything hits a snag when his younger son, Arthur (James McAvoy) discovers they forgot to deliver a present.

While Santa and Steve shrug off the mistake, Arthur doesn’t want any children to be disappointed when they wake up on Christmas morning. So, along with enthusiastic elf Bryony (Ashley Jensen) and not satisfied with retirement Grandsanta (Bill Nighy), Arthur sets out on an adventure to make sure every kid gets a present on Christmas.

Arthur Christmas is a fun light hearted movie about family and coming together at Christmas. It is a movie you can sit down and enjoy with your kids. It’s funny, but will also pull a tear or two from you by the end.

Released November 23, 2011, it made $147 million in its box office release.
