Spider-Man: Far From Home teaser trailer debuts: Peter Parker has no birth year?

The Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is here!  A field trip to Europe reveals what appears to the country’s own vigilante/hero, Mysterio. We also learn Nick Fury doesn’t seem to trigger the spidey-sense. And does Peter Parker not have a birth year?

Spider-Man: Far From Home is the next Peter Parker solo sequel in the MCU. The teaser trailer debuted today, starring Tom Holland. Peter is taking a trip to Europe via a field trip and whilst brushing his teeth, Nick Fury stealthily takes out his friend with a tranq. dart. It makes you wonder how Fury didn’t trigger Parker’s spider senses. The flick is set to release come July 5, 2019.

The scene where Jake Gyllenhaal unveils his Mysterio character seems to be quite a comic accurate rendition. The mist and the man soars in while he takes on some kind of entity made of water, a.k.a. Hydro-Man, according to IGN.

The publication figures this baddie to be a combination of him and The Elementals’ Hydron. The earlier had made a 1981 appearance as a villain in The Amazing Spider-Man No. 212. I wouldn’t put it past Marvel Studios to splice characters and/or characters’ abilities together to accommodate for an MCU version. I can’t help but to immediately think of Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman character in Spider-Man 3.  Mysterio leads us to believe that it’s his battle to fight.

More from Movies

It was at the Brazilian CCXP convention last year where actor Jacob Batalion mentioned that the villains of the movie are The Elementals or “Elemental monsters.” Jacob also said that Mysterio is the good guy teaming up with Spidey against this new foe, according to Collider.

"“Mysterio’s a good guy in this, they’re both teaming up to kill the game, to defeat these Elemental monsters.”"

Spider-Man’s inability to sense Nick Fury’s presence may raise questions. Could it mean anyone within his proximity need to be deemed a threat or does Fury have some kind of S.H.I.E.L.D. tech cloaking him from Peter’s spider-senses?

It was amusing to see Happy Hogan get a little awkward towards the attractive Aunt May and hearing Parker easily give his own tongue twisting rendition when picking up a passport. That said, if you pause the trailer on this document, you couldn’t help but notice no year is given on the date of issue, expiration date, and most notably, an absent birth year.

One could bring up the issue of time travel if this is the case and Marvel Studios had been trying to keep secret the occurrences between movies. It’s already been confirmed that Spider-Man: Far From Home will occur after the events of Avengers: Endgame, according to Vanity Fair. Nick Fury, Peter, and Maria Hill are alive in From From Home.

Apparently, Sony’s insistence on launching Far From Home so soon after Infinity War “threw a wrench in Marvel’s preferred degree of secrecy around Avengers: Endgame,” according to Vanity Fair. You have to wonder if the passport and the lack of birth year was put in the trailer to create a stir in the movie-dissecting Interwebs.

Next. Infinity War: Spider-Man likely wishes he didn’t have spider-senses. dark

However, does this reveal of a non-birth year on Parker’s passport raise questions about when he was born? Does this throw in yet another component into the Internet rumor mill regarding time travel and the plan Captain America had talked about in the Avengers: Endgame trailer?  Did Nick Fury’s appearance in this teaser trailer replace Tony Stark’s meeting with Peter? I couldn’t help but theorize myself that if both encounters were made, this would make Spider-Man not only an Avenger, but also a S.H.I.E.L.D. member.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is in theaters July 5, 2019.
