Deadpool 3 confirmed to be in development, according to Ryan Reynolds. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said it was planned to come after X-Force. Disney/Fox merger conundrum.

Deadpool 3 is yet another sequel to look forward to as Ryan Reynolds spoke in an interview with Variety about the flick. At a Once Upon A Deadpool promotional event in China, Reynolds spoke about how a third sequel is already in the works and that they were “looking to go in a completely different direction”.

Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick also mentioned to Screen Rant that they are in touch with Reynolds. FYI, Drew Goddard is said to be directing and writing the third film. The original writers confirmed that they aren’t involved. They also said they “anticipate there will be a Deadpool 3 at some point, but it’s just a little premature”. They also mentioned it’ll likely be placed to the wayside for now.

Screen Rant asked Reese and Wernick about a simultaneous approach to creating both X-Force and Deadpool, but Rhett likened their planned order in a chronological fashion much similar to that of Iron Man 2, then The Avengers, and then Iron Man 3. So it looks like X-Force falls into the same slot as The Avengers as far a superhero team up is concerned.

This is quite a pleasant surprise considering that it was almost a week ago that Deadpool comic creator Rob Liefeld said in a tweet that the X-Force movie was a “victim of the merger”, according to The Independent. He was speaking of the Disney/Fox merger. So things are hopeful. Could this mean there’s hope for Gambit and Doctor Doom?

A follow up with Liefeld a few days ago with ComicBook.com revealed that the Disney/Fox deal was quite the “conundrum” for both X-Force and Deadpool. The confusion can be understandable. Chances are there will be a lot of shuffling around since this merger and is probably par for the course in corporate America.

"“I believe Deadpool and X-Force are a conundrum for the merger. I do. X-Force and Deadpool are a conundrum, and how they will be solved, I guess, is to be determined. TBD.”"

Deadpool even joked about it in the home version commentary. Something along the lines of the X-Force movie being used as a marketing device to keep Josh Brolin around. Deadpool said “It doesn’t exist”. Of course, since the film is known for it’s comedy, maybe it was just a joke. But now the recent interview with Reynolds confirmed it’s a go!

dark. Next. Deadpool may have just saved the X-Men

How happy are you about Deadpool 3 and what direction do you think they’ll take him? Did you find that the Disney/Fox merger just added to the confusion on what Fox characters will be brought to the big screen?
