Deadly Class Season 1, Episode 3 delivered a fun episode full of pranks. However, there were some serious lessons to learn at the same time.

The rats entered the snake pit in Deadly Class Season 1, Episode 3. It was certainly a fun episode to see the pranks, but there were also serious lessons to learn.

One thing is for certain: Marcus has picked up skills and personality traits from living on the streets. One of my favorite moments was seeing the others thrown up learning they were eating rat but Marcus just watching them. He’s had to eat rat before.

Here are the top three takeaways from the episode.

3. Never trust a Legacy

Petra learned a hard lesson in the episode. She should have known that KGB Pretty Boy was after something when he asked her to the dance. Why would he bother?

Poor Petra played right into the Nazis’ hands though. As Hill Billy Nazi taunted and threatened her, of course, Petra was going to go to the dance with Pretty Boy (I’m sorry, these two characters have no redeeming qualities to earn me learning their names). I’d have likely done the same as her, if I hadn’t realized it was all going to be a trap.

And that’s exactly what it was. Pretty Boy got Petra alone and Hill Billy Nazi and her dumb followers ganged up on her to give her a makeover. Hey, at least a makeover isn’t as bad as being beaten to a pulp, but it still hurt.

The big lesson Petra learned was to never trust a Legacy. They’re out to get the rats and most will never change.

Willie, Saya, and Maria seem to be the only ones worth trusting, but even they have their failures. If push came to shove, would any of them stand up for Marcus and his friends?

2. Master Lin shows mercy

I never thought I would see Master Lin show any sign of mercy. Everything he does has some sort of lesson, but not at the end of this episode. As Denke resigns (and I can’t blame him as he realizes that the hazing against the rats isn’t really going to teach them anything), he and Master Lin fight.

Just as Master Lin gets the upper hand, you wonder whether he’s going to kill the professor. In most other shows, that’s exactly what would happen. After all, you can’t have a principal with grey morals this early in the story.

Instead, Master Lin shows mercy and walks away. It leaves plenty of questions about who Lin is and what he wants. What lesson does this show to anyone? Will this come back to haunt him?

1. Saya is in danger

Throughout the episode, we got two guys in masks killing a few people here and there. It’s clear these two are going to become a bigger part of the next episode and Deadly Class did plenty to tease what’s to come.

They’re after Saya. Why? Well, I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.

There are still a lot of balls in the air, such as the burned-face teen that is after Marcus for events at the boys’ home. Will Saya’s storyline be wrapped quickly or are we going to see a few episodes of her constantly with a target over her head?

And then there’s her friendship with Maria, which naturally leads to making an enemy of Chicho. Are the two assassins connected to the Cartel? That doesn’t seem likely considering their fighting skills. They look like they might be connected to the Triad for some reason. However, Saya better watch her back.

Overall, “Snake Pit” delivered a fun episode but it didn’t do too much to further the storyline. It continued to show the differences between the Legacies and the Rats. Denke was the only professor who saw how these two associations was damaging everything the school was teaching and it looks like that isn’t going to change for a while.
