Box Office: Glass wins the first weekend of February
By Sandy C.
Box office numbers are in for the weekend thanks to Box Office Mojo. Did your favorite film make it to the top? Check out the countdown, below.
Which movie did you watch in theaters this weekend? Topping the charts is M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, for the third week in a row. The film added $9.5 million to its growing sum, which is now $198.9 million worldwide. Glass was received with mixed reviews due to its controversial ending, but you can’t deny it’s a very entertaining film.
Following close behind is The Upside with $8.8 million. The movie, which stars Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart now has a total sum of $81.6 million, not bad for a reported budget of $37.5 million.
New in theaters is Miss Bala, starring Gina Rodriguez. Its budget was $15 million, yet it only managed to climb to number 3 with $6.7 million. It has a ways to go before it collects any profit. Could the reason the movie failed to impress at the box office have anything to do with the recent controversy with Rodriguez or is the movie simply not that great?
