Lacey is the newest My 600-lb Life contestant. She inhales ice cream like it’s her profession, but she’s tired of being on the rocky road.

Lacey was off the charts by a large margin as a child, and her mother was oblivious to the fact that her daughter looked like Chunk from The Goonies. Mom and Dad didn’t help much, so Lacey “made dinner” by mixing sugar and butter for herself. By nine-years-old, she was 200-lbs and a third of her way to being on My 600-lb Life. And these were not well-balanced, proportional pounds. She has never used the acronym HWP, and her triceps have grown into quadceps.

Despite being 350-lbs in Middle School, she has the unmitigated gall to blame obesity on her father. By 15 she was 492-lbs, but thinks a lot of it was related to her father having a temper and telling her to stop eating like she was perpetually in The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Home life

Waking up is painful. Just waking up. The parakeet tattoos on Lacey’s feet look like pterodactyls. Thankfully, she can make her way to the shower by herself, and that’s how this episode of My 600-lb Life mercilessly starts off.

After the shower, she unnecessarily bends over to show the camera her brown eye and then walks throughout the house naked. Which is also unnecessary. For some reason, her entirely-too-tight-clothes are in baskets on the kitchen floor.

The average meal

Breakfast is sausage and potatoes. To start. An entire bag of frozen potatoes to start. And what looks like an entire box of frozen sausages.

She’s euphoric as each link and spud falls to their death into Mount Doom. And who doesn’t finish breakfast with two or three chocolate cupcakes?

Lunch is the “for real, I’m not eating that much”-combo meal. Stop one is at Checkers, where she orders a double cheeseburger, extra large fries, mozzarella sticks, and a banana shake. Stop two is at Taco Bell, where she orders a demure three spicy tacos. Not fooling anyone.

Dr. Now’s evaluation

Before heading down to Texas, Lacey’s mother says they’ll get through this “thick or thin.” (Snort) Lacey sees the plane in the airport terminal window and comments, “They’re bigger than they seem.” (Snort…stifling laughter) To her credit, she appears to have purchased two seats for the flight. Much like her walk to the plane, the view from the air is breathtaking.

Arrival in Houston is relatively easy, provided you’re not one of the two guys pushing her mega-wheelchair. With plans to see Dr. Now the next day, she asks the shuttle driver to stop for drive-thru. Arrival at the hotel concludes a good trip until she gets out of the vehicle and ::puts on glasses:: has a good trip.

Initial weigh in: 691.2! BMI: 122!!! It turns out Lacey’s mother had a weight loss surgery before but is still in the mid-200s. Dr. Now calls her out like a straight savage.

The ultimatum is laid out: follow his diet, lose 80-lbs in two months, and the mother better get on board. Dr. Now chews out Lacey’s mother one more time for good measure.

The follow-up appointments & therapy

  • Month 2: She swears she’s following not only the diet, but also the exercise plans. Even her portions look reasonable.
  • Month 3: 586-lbs on the weigh-in, for a loss of 105-lbs! This might be a My 600-lb Life record.
  • Month 4: Lacey is worried about the surgery; Dr. Now cancels it. Apparently, she’s bipolar as well. Riiiiight. She swears she needs space, or she’ll give in to cravings. Her mother curses like a sailor when hearing all that nonsense. Lacey really needs the psychologist at this point because she absolutely refuses to accept responsibility.
  • Month 5: The psychologist told her to find coping mechanisms.
  • Month 6: Lacey didn’t want to go through with the surgery, so her mother bounced back to Michigan. WTF was the point of the trip if the surgery isn’t happening?
  • Month 7: Horrible paintings to cope.
  • Month 8: Weight loss surgery is progressing at 505-lbs, and her parents are back down in Texas to support.
  • Month 9: Weight 469-lbs & total weight loss of 222-lbs
  • Month 11: Weight 435-lbs & total weight loss of 256-lbs

Ultimately, it’s difficult to dislike Lacey’s father, impossible to like her mother, and easy cheer Lacey’s success.
