To start this list off, we have the poster boy for the list’s thumbnail and one of the film industry’s most likable and successful figures: Bradley Cooper. Cooper, above all else, has proven himself to be a solid actor with a knack for varying up his performance style for each film he’s in. He can play the douchey dude-bro in the likes of Wedding Crashers and The Hangover trilogy well and often with gut-busting results. He’s no stranger to the comedic world, for sure.

But ever since his Oscar-nominated turn in the 2010 romantic drama-comedy, Silver Linings Playbook, Cooper has consistently outdone himself with great performance after great performance in the likes of American Hustle , American Sniper, The A-Team (yes, really), the MCU as Rocket Raccoon and now as Jackson Maine in his directorial debut, A Star Is Born.
Cooper has lent himself to both mainstream blockbusters and dialogue-heavy dramas and has always come out impressing with his work ethic and commitment to the material. Yet, he has not received an Oscar for his troubles, despite being a 7-time nominee. Sure, an actor of his status may not “need” it as much as other actors, but it honestly feels overdue for Cooper to receive at least one shiny gold statue in his career. Maybe that’ll change this Sunday?
