With the Best Actress Oscar race heating up to a what is sure to be a close finish this Sunday, Hidden Remote takes time to remember the best actresses to have not won an Oscar.

The race for the Best Actress crown is the tightest it’s been in the past five years, with each of this year’s nominees having a semblance of a shot at earning the prestigious Oscar. Winning an Oscar is not the “end all, be all” of an acting career, but it must feel great to have your talents being rewarded onscreen in front of millions of viewers from around the globe. It’s great for both exposure and a physical reassurance of one’s talents.

However, not everybody has been fortunate enough to win the big one and that’s a reality many great actresses face, despite the hard work that has gone to get to that point in their careers. Of the near-100 actresses that have managed to win the Oscar, there are countless others that have not won or even been nominated. Some of these actresses are fresh faces in the industry, while others are acting greats with little support from the Academy.

With this list, we aim to recognize and highlight 15 of the best actresses who have not won an Oscar yet, despite their great performances and work ethic. Highlighting a mere 15 actresses despite the thousands out there who are arguably just as deserving to be on this list may not sound fair and to be truthful, it’s not entirely fair to them at all. But with this list, it’ll hopefully encourage readers to seek out the works of actresses with no Oscar recognition and only their hard work to show for.

There’s no time to waste before the Oscars this Sunday, so let’s get started!
