#2 Rami Malek – Best Actor Bohemian Rhapsody

Rami Malek portrayed a legend and gave a performance of a lifetime as Freddie Mercury.  He was honored for that taking home the Oscar for Best Actor for Bohemian Rhapsody. A well-deserved choice for someone who poured his heart out for this role.

He emerges into Freddie Mercury and mimics his every move down to the last lyric.  The Academy recognized his hard work and dedication with the highest honor.

Malek starts off by thanking his Mom and his Father who is looking down on him celebrating this monumental moment for him. He then thanks Queen and their legacy for everything they’ve done stating that he will forever be in their debt.

"“We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life just unapologetically himself.  The fact that I am celebrating him and his story tonight is proof that we are longing for stories like this.  I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, I am a first generation American and part of my story are being written right now and I can not be more grateful to each and every one of you that believe in me.”"

He closes off by praising and celebrating his love for his fellow co-star Lucy Boynton.  She was the heart of the film according to Malek who ended by confessing she had captured his heart as well.

#1 Olivia Colman – Best Actress The Favourite

This was by the far the most satisfying result that shocked the whole audience.  The favorite and Golden Globe Winner Glenn Close was a practical shoo-in for the win that when they announced Olivia Colman for Best Actress for “The Favourite”, her reaction said it all.

First nomination and win for Colman, she took the stage trembling and shaking of pure excitement realizing she could not believe what was happening.  She fought back tears as she rushed to the stage after receiving love and a big kiss from fellow costar Emma Stone.

She thanked her costars and directors before arriving at Glenn Close who she has idolized ever since she became an actress.  “You’ve been my idol for so long and this is not how I wanted it to be. I think your amazing and I love you very much.”

She followed it by thanking her family, her mom, and dad, and then her kids who she thanked even if they were asleep like they should’ve been.

"“Any little girl who is practicing her speech on the telly, you never know.  I used to work as a cleaner and I loved that job. I spent a lot of time imagining this.”"

She closed by thanking her husband Ed of 25 years for always being her biggest supporter before finishing by blowing a kiss to Lady Gaga.  The sheer emotion of her surprise and graciousness gives her the best speech of the night.
