Hotel Transylvania 4 is coming, but do we really need another sequel?

Dracula fans, Hotel Transylvania 4 is a go! A date has even already been scheduled for the fourth installment of the series. The question is, do we want it? What will it be about? And why? Okay, so more than one question.

Don’t get me wrong, I have loved all three of the Hotel Transylvania chapters. No other has topped the original, though, in my opinion, but the third, Hotel Transylvania: Summer Vacation, came pretty close. And, I imagine based on where the Summer Vacation leaves off, the fourth film will follow Dracula’s (Adam Sandler) new life with his lady, Ericka Van Helsing (voiced by Kathryn Hahn).

That’s sweet and all, but I would hate to see such a beloved franchise going down just for the sake of more and more sequels. Should it quit while it’s ahead?

More from Movies

Well, this may only be my opinion, because the box office numbers Hotel Transylvania has pulled in show otherwise. The franchise is apparently on top of its game. Take a look at the numbers below, grabbed from Box Office Mojo:

The first movie accumulated $358 million in theaters worldwide. Low, but with a production budget of $85 million, the film made a decent profit. The numbers increased for Hotel Tranylvania 2, collecting $474.8 million, and lowering its budget to $80 million. A win all around.

Finally, Summer Vacation performed better than the first two, with  $528.5 million worldwide and a reported budget of $80 million. Even if the fourth movie collects less than Summer Vacation, it’ll likely still do better than the original.

Hotel Transylvania 4 is expected in theaters December 21, 2021.

What’s your take, are you happy to see more of Dracula and Mavis or should there be no more Hotel Transylvania movies?
