Are you a fan of The Fosters and Good Trouble on Freeform? Then make sure you don’t miss out on these other projects from Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez!

When you’re out of new episodes of The Fosters and Good Trouble to watch but you still want your fix of Maia Mitchell and/or Cierra Ramirez, there are plenty of options for you to check out! While both rose to fame playing Callie and Mariana, respectively, they have blossomed outside of their notable roles.

Maia Mitchell recently booked a role in the noir thriller, “Whisper”, according to an exclusive interview with Deadline, the film’s writer, Keith Kjarval, describes Whisper as “our dark ode to modern love and Los Angeles.”

Mitchell will star as a “free-spirited” young woman against Joey Bicicchi’s (The Rake) character, a photographer.

Since Whisper was just announced, it’ll be a while before we get anything more about the film but there are plenty of other projects between the two of them to check out in the mean time:

1. Never Goin’ Back (2018)

Starring Maia Mitchell and Camilla Morrone, Never Goin’ Back is a raunchy R-rated comedy-drama film that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018. It was eventually distributed by A24 to critical acclaim.

Not only does the film feature female co-stars but the film was also written, produced, and directed by a woman named Augustine Frizelli. The film was her debut feature.

It centers on two best friends & roommates (Mitchell & Morrone) who ditch their stale jobs to go on a crazy beach trip. But when all their money gets stolen they realize they’re in over their heads and what results is a hilarious, yet touching, coming-of-age story. Morrone and Mitchell have excellent chemistry, which is perhaps why the film works as well as it does.

2. Drink, Slay, Love (2017)

A cheeky titled meant to play off the title of the book, Eat, Pray, Love, this movie is based on a novel of the same name written by Sarah Beth Durst. It stars Cierra Ramirez as Pearl, a teenage vampire.

While the film is a Lifetime movie, you shouldn’t let that dissuade you from watching it. It’s a parody of the common “teen vampire” movie tropes and it’s ridiculously entertaining. Lifetime specializes in doing over the top and campy films, this one is no different! It’s a little similar to their Mother May I Sleep With Danger? film in a lot of ways.

3. Hot Summer Nights (2017)

Timothée Chalamet stars in this coming-of-age story, also about a reckless teenage boy who overindulges in booze, drugs, and sex before realizing he’s spiraling out of control. Maia Mitchell plays a smaller role in this film but it’s still worth checking out.

Despite receiving lukewarm reception from critics, Hot Summer Nights has something to offer in terms of its stylistic endeavor and the sheer charisma of its cast. No, it’s not anything groundbreaking, but the perspective and stylistic effects make this film stand apart from the rest.

4. Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors (2018)

If you’re a Marvel fan then you don’t want to miss out on the animated adventures of the Marvel Rising team! The film features Cierra Ramirez voicing America Chavez and many other Marvel superheroes like Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel, Quake (from Agents of Shield with Chloe Bennet voicing), Inferno, Patriot, Captain Marvel, Captain America, and Hala the Accuser.

The film was produced for Disney Channel and aired simultaneously last fall on both Disney and Disney XD. In addition to the full-length film there is also merchandise and several short films with the characters to introduce you to their origin stories. (Spider-Gwen is in a few of the shorts voiced by Dove Cameron!) I can’t recommend this one enough, it’s super cute.

5. Teen Beach Movie (2013)

While not exactly my cup of tea, I felt I should include Teen Beach Movie on here because it is one of the more popular Disney Channel Original movies (it launched a sequel) and because it was one of Maia Mitchell’s first big roles. Guess who else stars in this movie? Ross Lynch, aka Harvey from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The film is a Disneyfied-take on West Side Story (known as Wet Side Story in the film) when a few surfer kids get swept into a magical musical world and decide to join in on the fun. It’s no High School Musical but I’ll admit Teen Beach Movie has its moments and some of the songs are undeniably catchy.

In addition to Whisper, Mitchell is currently filming the Netflix film, The Last Summer, also starring KJ Apa from Riverdale and Tyler Posey from Starz’s upcoming Now Apocalypse.

Currently, Ramirez doesn’t have other television projects outside of Good Trouble but she did release a single and music video for her song “Bad Boys” a few months ago!

New episodes of Good Trouble air Tuesday nights on Freeform.
