All American recap: 5 questions for the final episodes of the season
By Mads Lennon
The secret about Spencer’s father is finally out but we still have plenty of burning questions before the All American season finale!
Only two episodes remain of All American’s debut season with the season finale set to air on March 20th. We’ve gotten a lot of information in the last few episodes, including the truth about what happened between Cory, Grace, and Billy all those years ago.
But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still more to find out before the season is over! Here are the 5 questions I’m dying to find out before the season ends.
1. What does Cory want?
We finally know the reason Cory left. Years ago, when he was still married to Grace, she had an affair with Billy. It’s a pretty heavy revelation, one I’m sure was difficult for Grace to admit to Spencer. We don’t get to see his reaction to his mother telling him.

I wonder if Laura knew about the affair? The show doesn’t tell us that yet either. We do see Spencer confront his father in the aftermath. He’s teary-eyed and confused, likely feeling a mixture of betrayal from several of the adults in his life. I just wanted to give him a hug!
He raises some good questions to his father though. Why is he back now? Is it because he genuinely wants to make amends for abandoning his kids (no excuse is good enough to explain the pain of his abandonment away)? Is he back because he wants to make Billy and Grace suffer (I hope not because it’ll wind up hurting Spencer more than anyone)? Or is he back because Spencer’s name is in the news and he knows his son is destined for greatness?
We don’t get Cory’s answer. Inquiring minds need to know!
2. How will Tyrone be dealt with?
Considering he pulled a gun on Spencer in this episode (seriously, that kid needs a hug) and would have killed him if not for Cory’s interruption, it’s clear Tyrone has got to go. Coop is finally trying to get help from other people including Laura and she slyly manipulates Preach into getting revenge for Shawn too but will it work?
What if Preach betrays Coop and tells Tyrone what her real intentions are? I mean I hope the show doesn’t kill her off, I can’t imagine they would, but she’s definitely in a scary position right now. All I know is, someone needs to take him down a few notches before someone else winds up dead.
3. What is going to happen between Asher and his father?
It feels like Asher’s story has become a tad aimless in the last stretch of the season. This week, he hosts a somewhat random, illegal poker game at Layla’s house (she affectionately coins the night a “Molly’s Game sequel”). Then her home gets robbed and she kicks Asher out, believing him and his weird gambling friends to be the culprits.
Turns out, that wasn’t the case after all and Layla apologizes, offering her house back to him as a place to stay. Asher declines, admitting she may have given him the boost he needed to make amends with his father. But we know his dad’s love is conditional (okay ALL these kids need hugs) so what makes him think this time is going to be any different? I have a bad feeling about where things between he and his father might end up.
4. Are Billy’s decisions really in his son’s best interests?
First Billy swapped out Jordan’s urine sample during a drug test to ensure he was able to pass and stay on the team. Now he’s paying off his own father to get out of Jordan’s life after Jordan explained the importance of having a relationship with his grandfather is.
At one point are Billy’s motivations more self-serving than they are in fatherly good will? I mean did he change the drug test to save Jordan’s career or to save his team? Does he want Willy out of Jordan’s life because he’s worried about his influence on his son or because he doesn’t want his dad in his own affairs (oops, bad choice of words)?
One thing is certain, Billy Baker is a complicated man and it makes him a compelling character, but he definitely isn’t as upstanding and “good” as we may have initially been lead to believe.
5. Are Grace and Micah built to last?
Okay this question is more for fun than anything. I’m honestly happy just to see Grace happy and living her life to the fullest. I mean she’s a beautiful woman she deserves to go to college and have a little romance!
I don’t know if Micah and Grace will be some epic, life-altering relationship but they don’t need to be. As long as she’s enjoying herself, then I’m happy.
