Game of Thrones finally dropped its Season 8 trailer and we have a lot of questions. One of them being, who is on the Greyjoy ship?

If you somehow managed to miss it, the Game of Thrones Season 8 trailer finally dropped. A proper trailer with actual Season 8 footage. Since it dropped, we’ve been analyzing every little bit of detail for a hint of what is to come, and the question we’re going to look at right now is who is on the Greyjoy ship?

The moment occurs 27 seconds into the trailer and only lasts for a couple of seconds, but that is more than enough time needed to work out who this mysterious character is.

More from Game of Thrones

At first, the knee jerk reaction is to assume it is Jaime Lannister. With the golden hair and armor that could be easily be mistaken for the Gold Cloaks at a mere glance, it’s understandable why Game of Thrones fans thought it might be the Jamie.

Upon second glance, however, it is clear it is not Jaime. As the person aboard the Greyjoy ship still has both hands, Jamie no longer wears armor similar to his Gold Cloaks armor,  his hair is now short and cropped, and that is certainly not his sword.

So who could it be then?

Well, Game of Thrones hasn’t confirmed who it is so we’re having to take an educated guess here. If you look at those in the boat, we can see soldiers adorned in armor we have not seen before. The key part of the armor is the golden helmets.

If you flash your memory back to the end of Season 7, Cersei dispatched Euron Greyjoy to Essos in order to bring back the Golden Company. We are yet to meet the Golden Company in Game of Thrones, but if you are familiar with the many texts by George R.R. Martin, you will about them already.

A group of sellswords, who are revered as the largest and most famous of sellswords, they have a reputation of never breaking their contract, a rare thing for sellswords. Believed to have been founded by the illegitimate child of Aegon IV Targaryen, the current captain-general is Harry Strickland.

It makes absolute sense for those aboard the ship to be the Golden Company, and whomever the person is is their leader, which, if Game of Thrones decides not to adapt anything, it will be Harry Strickland.
