3. Jay settles a family feud.

Poor Jay gets stuck with an entitled woman named Holiday who keeps getting into trouble because she refuses to grow up. She doesn’t even believe Jay his a “real attorney” since he’s a public defender.

More from ABC

When Jay gets the charges dropped for each case she comes to him with, he gets a visit from her parents who are pissed… about their daughter not being a felon. They’re sick of her living at home! Holiday (“we named her Holiday for gods sake”) refuses to get a real job because she was raised in a home with no rules or restrictions. If her parents get her convicted then they can evict her because the landlord won’t let her live in the house with them any longer.

By the end, Jay has had it with their absurd family drama and talks with both parties. Holiday needs to grow up, but her parents need to realize there is nothing wrong with kids living with their parents (I loved this speech because it is a very American perspective to believe living with your parents is a bad thing if it works for everyone involved, as Jay points out) if everyone is happy with it.

Clearly they’re not, so they need to work it out together instead of trying to get each other thrown in jail! Mainly because Jay doesn’t ever want to see any of them ever again and who can blame him?

4. Seth takes Leonard’s old office.

Once Leonard arrives back he tries to reclaim his office (which has been taken by Seth) but Seth stands up to him and refuses to give it back.

He likes his Elvis clock and view of the city and Leonard left. Seth earned his spot. It was nice to see him taking charge.

5. New Ted arrives.

I’m going to be honest up front and admit I don’t remember a Ted from season one but I will definitely remember him now. Charles Michael Davis stars a “new” Ted, replacing their old investigator (who had the same name) for the public defenders office. Davis is as charismatic and magnetic as ever. He and Robertson are excellent together and he gets a wonderful monologue about how he intends things to operate at the office.

There is a lovely charged tension between Sandra and Ted that I wouldn’t mind seeing blossom into something romantic when the time comes. Though that could be the undeniable charm of Charles Michael Davis who seems to ooze chemistry with every single actor he shares a scene with. He’s an excellent addition to this show.

Odds & Ends

  • Alison’s reaction to learning Carson was murdered by police? “But he was white.” Zing.
  • Speaking of Alison, I need more of her ASAP. She was barely in this episode and last season she didn’t get nearly enough courtroom time. I’m hoping that changes in season two.
  • Will Kate and Leonard reconcile? Right now it would appear Kate is still seriously hurt by Leonard’s decision to pick Texas over her after her tearful admission to him before he left. But he does admit he missed her. Is that enough?

A new episode of For the People titled “This is America” premieres March 14th on ABC.
