Maria, Max, Liz, and Michael travel to Texas to visit a faith healer in the latest episode of Roswell, New Mexico. Do they find the answers they’re seeking?

It’s time for a road trip to Texas as the Roswell gang of Maria, Max, Michael, and Liz head out to visit a supposed faith healer in search of answers. Maria is hoping to find a cure to help her mother’s degenerating memory and Max wants to know what the mysterious symbol truly means. Here are the 5 biggest takeaways from Season 1, Episode 9.

5. Kyle is an Alex/Michael shipper.

Kyle and Alex get to spend quite a bit of time together this week as they investigate Mane’s Project Shepherd. Alex talks about his latent fears regarding Michael, he is marked as a terrorist after all. Kyle points out the fact they grew up with Max, Michael, and Isobel. Maybe they don’t know what they are yet but it doesn’t mean they’re monsters.

It’s a sweet moment between the two of them that yields hope for a greater friendship down the line. Kyle advises Alex to talk to Michael and hear him out.

Coping mechanisms are not Michael’s strong point and neither are they Maria’s. The two get drunk and commiserate together (as in hook up) out in the desert (no one was worried about sand or scorpions I guess). I was happy to see them break the tension because the chemistry is palpable and I’m always a fan of bisexual representation. I like both Michael pairings right now so it’s fun to see the show shaking things up and not settling into anything too early on in its run.

I give Alex credit for being strong enough to accept Michael’s dalliance (he recognizes Maria’s necklace and I’m sure he infers what happened) and spill his heart anyways. He wants to get to know Michael, really talk to him and see if the love they once felt is real.

Michael asks him a pivotal question, one we don’t get to hear Alex answer to quite yet – “Do you want to know who I am or what I am?”
