The Conners stars inching closer to securing a second season
The Conners Season 1 wrapped a couple of months ago and we’ve heard nothing since. Well, it sounds like ABC wants a second season and the wait is all about contracts. The good news is The Conners Season 2 is getting closer to being confirmed.
If you’ve been wondering about the fate of The Conners, then you’re not alone. Months after airing its first season finale, everything has been quiet. It’s not due to lack of interest in the show, though. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes to confirm a second season.
It looks like we’re getting closer to The Conners Season 2. When looking at the views, it would have been a no brainer for ABC to renew it right away. It’s the number one comedy and number two show on the network in terms of demo. When it comes to the total viewers, it’s the number one show for both. While those who watched Roseanne for Roseanne Barr may have tuned out, there were clearly plenty of fans interested in the other characters.

So, what’s the holdup? It’s all about the actors and the contracts. There’s no point in renewing a show only to find out the actors aren’t going to be around or interested. Deadline reports that the contracts are closer to being finalized, which means we should hear about The Conners Season 2 very soon — we’ll hear by May at the latest.
The good news for fans of the comedy is that the show looks to be getting an extension. Sara Gilbert, John Goodman, and Laurie Metcalf are signing for 13 episodes instead of 11 episodes for a second season.
Showrunner Bruce Helford seems to believe that everything will go through without a hitch and ABC will renew the show. He’s reportedly already working on the storylines for the second season.
The series will likely keep its 8 p.m. slot on a Tuesday night. There’s no point in changing something that works, right?
