6. Khal Drogo

Portrayed by: Jason Momoa

First appearance: “Winter Is Coming” (Season 1, Episode 1)

Last appearance: “Valar Morghulis” (Season 2, Episode 10)

Why we miss him: Khal Drogo was introduced in the very first episode of Game of Thrones but the character was surprisingly killed off by season’s end. If Jason Momoa had the star power he had now, we think he would have lasted much longer on the series. Then again, Game of Thrones truly skyrocketed his career so maybe he wouldn’t be Aquaman if he didn’t portray Khal Drogo first.

The warlord was a leader of the Dothraki people, a nomadic group of horse-riders known for their combat skills. Despite the Dothraki’s cutthroat demeanor, Drogo evolved through his relationship with Daenerys. The marriage between Drogo and Daenerys was arranged by Viserys Targaryen in exchange for Dothraki troops.

Even though they didn’t start off on the best of terms, the couple eventually got a better understanding of one another. Drogo proved himself time and time again as a husband and went to great efforts to protect his wife. After Viserys threatened to take back Daenerys for not getting his army, Drogo killed the man to protect his wife and unborn son.

The undefeated warrior was later wounded by one of his own men. The injury got worse so Daenerys made the decision to unknowingly sacrifice their unborn child to save Drogo.

The spell resulted in Drogo entering a catatonic state so Daenerys smothered him with a pillow as she couldn’t see the once fierce warrior live in that way. A vision Khal Drogo and their child were later seen in Season 2 when Daenerys visited the House of the Undying.
