Barry faces pressure from NoHo Hank to pull off an important hit in the next episode of Barry, which premieres tonight.

It’s becoming quite clear that Barry will never be able to put his previous hitman persona behind him. As hard as he tries, Barry can never escape a life of crime as his former partner, NoHo Hank, forces Barry to carry out a murder. Season 2, Episode 2 of Barry is titled, “The Power of No.” With an important decision on the way, it’s clear that this decision to carry out a murder will leave Barry truly deciding if he wants to do it or now. In case you missed last week’s episode on HBO, here is a brief recap of episode 1.

Season 2 picks off shortly after the events of the Season 1 finale, which saw Barry and Detective Janice Moss square off after Janice figured out that Barry was responsible for an abundance of murders. Though we don’t know if Janice is dead or not, she is missing and it’s taken a toll on the acting class.

Gene Cousineau is missing in action because of his depression in regards to Janice’s disappearance. When the class refuses to act, Barry decides to take over for Gene and direct their performance of The Front Page much to the dismay of his peers including Sally.

When Barry visits Gene at his house to persuade him to come back to the class, he is greeted by Detective Loach and his partner, May, who reveal that they will no longer pursue the investigation into Janice’s disappearance. Although Gene initially rebuffs Barry’s offer to return ot the class, Gene shows up to opening night, but cancels the show. Gene then cancels the class, but has a change of heart when Barry discusses the story of his first kill over in Iraq.

Meanwhile, NoHo Hank is the leader of the Chechen mob and everything is running according to plan with his enemy-turned-friend, Cristobal, the leader of the Bolivian mob. However, Hank is jealous of Cristobal’s relationship with Esther, the head of the Burmese crime family. When Cristobal decides to bring Esther into the partnership, Hank takes it upon herself to remove her from the equation. When the Chechens threaten to kill him, Hank avoids this situation by stating Esther killed Goran and he will get rid of her as a penance for wrongdoings.

In disguise, Hank visits Barry at his job and asks Barry to kill Esther. Furious and upset, Barry emphatically says no and calls Hank a “f****** idiot.” However, the tables turn when Hank visits Barry outside of the acting class and threatens to kill him and all of his friends including Sally if he does not murder Esther. Barry reluctantly accepts the job.

Now, Barry will be faced with a difficult decision. Should he pull off the murder despite wanting to leave a life of crime or should he turn Hank down and risk the safety of his friends? Below is the official synopsis for episode 2.

"Facing pressure from Noho Hank, Barry struggles to pull off an important hit. After asking the class to mine their personal traumas for an original piece, Gene decides to confront his own past."
