The opening credits

Now, before anyone says anything, no, I am not trying to say you missed the fact they changed the entire opening credit scene. That would honestly be an insult to you. No, what I am getting at here is the subtle details within the opening credits that you might have missed.

Such as the details on the metal band that circles the sun right at the very start of the opening credits. With them constantly moving it was hard to see what had replaced the details showing Robert’s Rebellion and other historical events in Westeros history.

What is shown now are three major events:

  • The Wall coming down at East Watch
  • The Red Wedding
  • The Birth of Viserion, Drogon, and Rhaegal

The queen’s arrival

Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 1 got straight to the point with the arrival of Daenerys and Jon Snow at Winterfell. The episode opened up with them arriving, with the Unsullied and Dothraki, marching through a village just outside Winterfell.

We got to see this precision of events play out through the point of view of a young boy. What you may have missed though was how this boy mirrored the movements of both Arya and Bran from the Game of Thrones series premiere; when Robert Baratheon arrived at Winterfell, dubbed The Kings Arrival.

Arya and The Hound

Arya first spotted The Hound, a.k.a Sandor Clegane, as he marched into Winterfell with the army of Unsullied and Dothraki. They obviously had a proper reunion later on in the episode, which I thought was perfect. However, it is when Arya first spotted The Hound that I want to talk about as it is another moment which mirrored the series premiere and therefore one you might have missed.

So, when Arya saw The Hound for the first time in Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 1 she was not impressed. Her facial expression screamed disgust, a look she pretty much had the very first time she saw The Hound all those years ago.
