Welcome to Winterfell

As Daenerys arrived into Winterfell she was greeted by the lords and ladies, along with Brienne of Tarth, Podrick Payne, Lyanna Mormont, and a few other highborn lords and ladies. This moment, just like all the others that came before it, mirrored the arrival of Robert Baratheon in the series premiere.

The party is obviously much smaller than it was, showing just how much has changed over the course of eight seasons, but it was a perfect throwback to where it all began.

Jon and Bran T600

Jon meeting robot bran. Or as I like to call him, Bran T600, was one of the comical moments in the Season 8 premiere. You would have thought somebody would have sent Jon a message warning him that Bran was effectively a robot now, or Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory.

Anyway, comical moment aside, what you may have missed was the way Jon greeted Bran with a kiss on his forehead. The exact same way he said goodbye to him at Winterfell before he journeyed North to become a man of the Night’s Watch and take the black.

Jon and Arya

There was a huge amount of reunions in the episode. Way more than I expected. All of them were sweet and wonderful in their own little way, but the one that caught a lot of Game of Thrones fans right in the feelings department was Jon and Arya.

Their reunion was very touching and another mirroring throwback moment. The embrace and over the shoulder shots of the two reuniting were picture perfect when compared to how the two said goodbye to one another shortly after Jon gave her the famous Needle in the Game of Thrones series premiere.
