2. Beth puts on a good act

While seeing Beth attempt to have it all, she also dealt with drug dealers, Dean, missing Janey, Rio, and everyone else who crosses her. She certainly puts on a good act in many of the interactions, although that’s all it is.

One thing Rio has done is give Beth more confidence. She was able to stand up to the drug dealers and make it clear that she could stop them from running their business. You could see this change in her demeanor as she decided that she’d had enough, but this wouldn’t be something she’d have been able to do when Good Girls began.

By stepping up as the boss with Rio and at the dealership, she’s learning how to put on an act. She’s figuring out how to be more confident. At least, make it look like she’s confident. There’s more of this to come from Beth and I’m excited to see it.

1. Ruby may have reached the point of no return

We have to wrap up the takeaways with this all-important moment at the end of the episode. Ruby spent the episode recording conversations and finding out that there wasn’t enough to help Agent Turner. So, he’s ready to put extra pressure on.

When her phone is taken off her by the drug dealers, it’s clear that things are heating up intensely. Stan is at risk of being sent down as a dirty cop, as Internal Affairs is brought in to deal with the missing pen cap. Agent Turner is finally stepping up!

So, it’s not all that surprising that Ruby finally decides to give Turner something he can use. But is it Turner that she called? For one thing, she called from Beth’s house. It seems odd that she would bring Turner there and have that phone call tracing to him. I’m also surprised the women didn’t quickly go out and buy new cell phones with the money that is buried in the backyard!

Anyway, we’re left to believe that Ruby is calling Turner with the evidence of the Book Club board. I’m not sure that’s who she was ringing.
