Friends, this week on Jane the Virgin, Jane learns that Michael has his memory back, and has all sorts of conflicted feelings. Meanwhile, Xo has her last chemo treatment.

This season of Jane the Virgin has already been full of emotions and heartbreak, and it’s only episode 4. Our heroine learns that Michael’s memories have returned and all thoughts of sending the divorce papers are out the window. Meanwhile, Xo finishes her chemo, and Petra reunites with JR.

Very early in the episode, Jane makes eye contact with Michael and learns he is indeed Michael. She chases down his bus, and reconnects with him. However, this causes a lot of friction at home with Rafael, and she needs to go talk to everyone about her feelings. No one seems to be able to give her a straight answer, so she goes and talks to Petra.

Petra, wanting her help with a text to JR, gives Jane the advice that Michael is her past and Rafael is her future, and she drunkenly mails the divorce papers, which she immediately regrets. She chases the mailman down, gives him her whole story, and is able to get the papers back.

Meanwhile, Alba thinks that Jorge has feelings for her, because of letters he’s been sending her. However, when they are reunited, he tells her that his sister told him what to write in the letters, thus breaking her heart all over again.

Petra and JR reunite, but they now have the job of trying to get rid of Magda, who is back and suing Petra for emotional distress. Xo has her last chemo treatment, and is ready to get back to normal, including attending Mateo’s grandparent’s night.

Without further ado, here are the episodes top four tearjerker moments:

Jane and Michael reunite

Jane and Michael reunited in the bus station and there were tears all around. It didn’t take long before they moved to the Cubano truck (spoiler alert: Michael still doesn’t like Cubanos), and Michael confessed that he feels like he’s two people rolled into one.

The two catch up and fill each other in on what they were up to in the last four years. And then Michael drops a bombshell: he’s still in love with Jane.

Later, after reading her book, Michael texts Jane that he read her book, and he wants them to have that happy ending.

Jane tells Rafael that Michael has his memories back

When Jane finally tells Raf that Michael’s memories have returned, your heart just breaks for them. They were so happy, and now it’s all up in the air. Jane doesn’t know what she wants to do, but all Rafael wants to do is put the ring on her finger and move on. Have their family.

Xo collapses at Grandparent’s Day

Xo is done with chemo and ready to move on with her life, get back to normal. And the first step is to get all glammed up and attend Mateo’s Grandparent’s Day celebration with the family. When she arrives, she’s all smiles and looking amazing.

She and Mateo have even choreographed a sweet dance together that has everyone on their feet. However, after the dance is over, Xo is not feeling well, and ends up collapsing.

In the hospital, she is told that she needs to take it easy because she over exerted herself, and is dehydrated. She tells Rogelio that she is worried the chemo isn’t going to work, and what she really wants is for Mateo to remember her as strong and vibrant and not sick. Rogelio shows her a video of Mateo describing his grandmother as a strong, vibrant, fierce person, and Xo knows she doesn’t have to worry.

Rafael gets his memories back

With Jane on the fence and unable to commit to ditching Michael, Rafael remembers all the times that Jane chose Michael over him.

When he gets back from Alba’s with Mateo, he asks Jane flat-out if she still loves Michael. And when she can’t answer right away, he tells her that he can’t just sit around and wait for her to decide between him and Michael again. So he tells her she has to leave. Mateo overhears and says he doesn’t want to leave, he wants to stay with his daddy. So Raf tells him he can stay, but Jane has to leave.

So the last shot of the episode is Jane, in tears, walking out of the house she shares with Raf and Mateo, leaving her son behind with his father. And hearts everywhere break.
