Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2: The world vs. Cersei Lannister

Cersei Lannister did not make an appearance in Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 2, but we still learned plenty about her and what’s to come.

For there only being six episodes in this finale season of Game of Thrones, I assumed the main players would appear in them all. However, Cersei Lannister was nowhere to be seen on Season 8, Episode 2. Busy hunting for elephants, perhaps? Her name was mentioned plenty, though, and we learned two things.

One — everyone is now against Cersei. Okay, maybe we knew that already. But now, as much as Jaime, and even Tyrion, loves her, she can’t be saved from what’s to come. That is, should Jon, Daenerys, Sansa, Arya, and the others survive the fight against the dead. There was a small bit of hope when it was believed Cersei would help out, but now everyone has learned Cersei doesn’t intend on helping anyone but herself.

Jaime revealed Cersei’s plans, which are to sit tight and kill the remaining survivors when the war is over. Daenerys is furious, and she’s not alone.

Two — Tyrion and Jaime have a quick chat. During their conversation about their sister, Tyrion (and viewers) learn that Cersei truly is pregnant. Sure, Cersei said she was before, but it’s not easy to trust her.

Now that we know she’s pregnant, and after watching last week’s Season 8 premiere, most fans have a pretty good theory: Cersei is going to pass her baby as Euron’s.

She’s done it before. King Robert believed Cersei’s children were his, after all. And right now she needs to secure Euron’s loyalty, and there’s no better way of doing that than giving him a child. Not to mention, Euron already wants one, he tells Cersei he is going to “put a prince” in her in Season 8, Episode 1.

There is, of course, the question of whether Cersei will ever give birth to this baby. Don’t forget, if the prophecy is correct, she isn’t having any more kids.
