It was the calm before the storm during A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 images are out. Are you ready for the Battle of Winterfell?

During Game of Thrones’ “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” we got the calm before the storm. Men questioned whether they had to fight, ladies were finally knighted, reunions we didn’t expect happened, and there was much more. The Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 images are out and it’s time to prepare for the Battle of Winterfell.

HBO is being stingy this week, releasing just six photos for the episode. While the cable network has certainly released photos of other episodes after airing, it’s usually released more than this beforehand. This tells us one thing: there are going to be some major moments in Episode 3.

More from Game of Thrones

That’s not all that surprising. Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 is going to see the Night King’s army fight the living at Winterfell. Whether it’s the full army or the Night King has taken forces South isn’t clear, but it doesn’t really matter either. There are going to be some big losses coming up.

The images don’t show us who will be going, but we do get an excellent one of Brienne of Tarth, now Ser Brienne, leading her army. It’s worth noting that this photo also includes Jaime Lannister, who had wanted to fight by Brienne’s side. In a way, this is a bad call. There aren’t many Valerian steel swords out there and they should be split across the battlefield, but we’ll ignore that tactical issue right now.

Behind Brienne and Jaime are the knights of House Arryn. The Knights of the Vale have been at Winterfell since helping Jon and Sansa win the Battle of the Bastards. Now it’s time to see them in action against the dead.

Speaking of Sansa, she’s on top of Winterfell’s walls with Arya. I’m surprised she’s not in the crypt, but the battle hasn’t started yet. When she was at the Battle of the Bastards, she watched from the top of the field as the Vale knights stormed the Boltons. This will be a good mirror of that if she remains up there.

I’m assuming Arya will eventually join the battle. Will both Stark sisters survive?

Unsurprisingly, Varys and Tyrion are in the crypt (the featured image). Varys isn’t a fighter and Daenerys had sent Tyrion to the crypts to survive. I’m not sure they’ll all be safe down there. There are bodies down there and it wouldn’t surprise me if they were raised by the Night King to attack from the inside. However, I think some of the wights will break through defenses and head for the crypts.

Jon certainly has a look of shock on his face and that looks like it’s during the battle. Will he see the Night King again or is he going to witness the loss of another person close to him? The smoke around him reminds me of “Watchers on the Wall” as he says goodbye to Ygritte.

Finally, there’s a photo that has me curious. One of my theories is that the Army of the Living will lose Winterfell. They’ll be forced to leave and head to the Iron Islands, which is why it’s not a huge deal that Yara has headed there. Yara is their defense when they needed it.

One of the Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 images has me wondering if this is happening. Dany and Jon are looking on at a structure surrounded by fire. I’d be surprised if this was the attacking wights and White Walkers. They know that fire kills them. Will Jon and the Starks feel like they have no choice but to burn down Winterfell to kill the wights?
