While Alexis reveals her new face to the family at Sam’s masquerade party, things heat up between Fallon and Liam. Is Falliam back on in Dynasty?

Last week, Dynasty let the cat out of the bag: Elizabeth Gillies stepped into the role of Alexis Carrington and is pulling double duty as both mother and daughter (for now). Although the recast was jarring at first, we couldn’t have known it would be this much fun to watch Gillies honor Nicollette Sheridan. Unfortunately, the new Alexis isn’t having has much fun — not after her family’s horrified reaction to her face.

Elsewhere, Fallon forces Liam into a compromising situation that pushes them further apart. But will they both end the masquerade and confess their true feelings? From powerful to powerless, we’re ranking Carrington manor’s best and brightest on their quest for control. Here’s how the power struggle stacked up in the latest episode of Dynasty Season 2. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

1. Fallon

More from CW

Look, it was a relatively quiet week at the manor, but Fallon managed to keep the most plates spinning while also tackling her pesky feelings. Those are foreign to her; we must show empathy.

Fallon notices that Liam’s book sales have spiked due to the public’s perception that he’s written about his relationship with Ashley Cunningham. She talks them into making appearances for marketing purposes, but Fallon’s jealousy knows no bounds. At the masquerade party, they take off their literal and metaphorical masks and admit they’re in love. Falliam is back!

2. Adam

Does Adam have power, or is he just super creepy? Potentially both, perhaps just the latter. Seriously, not enough people are addressing or even noticing his twisted obsession with Fallon. He sneaks into her room (!!!) while she’s sleeping (!!!) to steal Liam’s manuscript (!!!). The reason was unclear, though he seemed to use information from the book to mildly flirt with Fallon and inspire her to go after Liam.

Ultimately, Adam sets them up to sell a photo to the tabloids, which would capsize Liam’s book and Fallon’s credibility. At least he didn’t poison anyone this week!

3. Cristal

If you’re wondering why Dynasty made so much ado about nothing with Cristal’s family, you’re not alone. Here’s what happened: When Blake’s goalie gets injured in a car accident, he assumes Cristal’s father sent a warning shot. Blake strikes back by cutting the electricity at his stadium in Mexico.

Of course, Cristal has to run interference between the two and fesses up to Blake about faking the drugging last week. But she pulls the most unexpected punch when she invites her father to the manor for a formal truce. Good for her, but, like… Okay?

4. Jeff? Culhane?

It’s actually debatable who between Jeff and Culhane has more power and, to that end, if they actually have anything on Blake. Jeff’s chat with the FBI could have backfired big time on Culhane (see: Ada Stone), but he’s desperate to take Blake down. And for the sake of good television, who wouldn’t want to see that happen?

However, their lead on his emails to Mexico seems like a dead end for their money laundering theory. Blake’s a tough snake to catch. Also, what’s with Jeff’s erratic behavior? Is Adam’s poison working?

5. Alexis

It’s arguable that Alexis has the most power this week, what with her big reveal, but she’s still totally powerless to Adam’s manipulation. Being so, he convinces her to make her debut to the family at Sam’s masquerade party because that guy just loves chaos.

Naturally, no one reacts well to her new face being, well, Fallon’s current face, especially not Fallon. Alexis takes the response personally, even though she could have said she didn’t choose her new look. But does she know Adam chose this look for her? We should be so lucky he did because Elizabeth Gillies’ spot-on Nicollette Sheridan impression is Emmy-worthy.

Honorable mentions:

  • Sam throws himself a coming-out-as-single masquerade party, and it’s the epitome of Sam’s extra-ness being endearing. Also, his talks with Anders will forever be the moral center of Dynasty.
  • Who else thought the plane carrying Cristal’s father was going to explode a la the first season finale of Revenge? No… I’m not disappointed it didn’t… Who said that?
  • Liz Gillies’ and showrunner Sallie Patrick have confirmed to TV Line that this version of Alexis is “temporary.” Any guess on what that could mean?
