Avengers: Endgame’s plot not unlike Voyager’s Endgame series finale episode? Kate Mulgrew tweeted something that could be telling of a narrative familiar to the Roddenberry created franchise.

Avengers: Endgame is on-screen and with it, support from others are being made apparent and reactions to early screenings are quite positive. Even Star Trek Voyager’s Kate Mulgrew, who played Captain Kathryn Janeway, gave a tweet of support speaking about her own “Endgame” series finale episode which aired 18 years ago. This could hint at the Marvel film’s plot line, although Kate likely knows nothing about it.

That said, based on the reactions I’ve seen thus far online, I’m guessing parallels could be drawn between both Marvel and Star Trek fans on how the plot may go and the feels they may expect to get for those who haven’t seen Endgame just yet. The Star Trek franchise has been known to follow the plot line regarding future characters traveling back in time to alter history that include their former selves to accomplish a crisis-saving goal.

I think hints to this was given in an Avengers: Endgame trailer where Ant-Man appeared on the Avengers complex security cam. Captain America was wondering whether or not what they were/are seeing is happening now or has been pre-recorded. (Notice my usage of past and present terminology).

There had also been Endgame set photos going around per Hollywood Pipeline, giving hint to old Avengers costumes which could indicate previous versions of the characters. Their historical selves, along with Ant-Man/Scott Lang/Paul Rudd appearing in locations that I think looks to be The Battle of New York (via the rubble and upturned vehicles) which occurred in the first Avengers movie.

If you can recall, Scott Lang had no involvement in the Chitauri encounter back in 2012…or did he??

Hollywood Pipeline mentioned how “Speculation has all but confirmed that the Quantum Realm, explored extensively in Ant-Man and the Wasp, will play a large role in Endgame’s resolution”.

Speculation is the operative word here though. So, let us enter the speculation (Quantum?) realm for a moment. In March of 2018, EW interviewed Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige prior to the release of Infinity War. He referenced Star Trek: TNG’s “All Good Things” series finale as he was such a big fan of that episode. Of course, it was one of the episodes that involved past, present, and future versions of Picard attempting to save the world under the duress of Q.

Now with the recent Mulgrew tweet regarding her Voyager: Endgame episode to “study my tactics”, does this not even further cement theories regarding Avengers: Endgame’s plot? In that series finale, it was Admiral Janeway going back in time to give orders to her former self to defeat the Borg’s ability to traverse the universe in an efficient manner to better assimilate inhabitants.

That said, I couldn’t help but to think that Ant-Man could be Endgame’s Janeway; a key component to the conclusionary Marvel movie plot. Of course, the heroic underdog is far from being anywhere similar to a Starfleet officer, but he could wind up becoming quite the stand-out as Phase 3 come’s to an end. ComicBook.com reported a speculative thought via Reddit that Tony Stark could be the “All Good Things'” Picard, traversing past, present, and future.

Why doesn't Avengers: Endgame have any post-credit scenes?. dark. Next

Avengers: Endgame debuts April 26 and is a culmination of all the Marvel movies. Do you think you’ll get the Star Trek series finale feeling similar to TNG’s “All Good Things” and/or Voyager’s “Endgame” episodes? Do you think Feige’s constant use of the word “culmination” in his interviews will be summed up perfectly in Avengers: Endgame?
