And yes, I’m talking about the Night King. This centuries-old supernatural being died at the hands of a 90lb girl. For some it was anticlimactic, but in a way, it showed that arrogance gets you nowhere. And arrogant the Night King was.

Leading up to the battle, he routinely made a point that everyone should be scared. The Darth Vader of Game of Thrones, he only stepped in when he absolutely needed to. Yet like Darth Vader, he had the opinion that he would always win – that there was nobody who could stop him.

Unlike Bran, the Night King didn’t have visions of the future. He couldn’t tell how the battle would play out and he had no idea how the living could possibly win. With Drogon’s fire not even singing a piece of his clothing, it was clear that the living’s most powerful weapon wasn’t going to do the trick. He didn’t think they had anything left in them.

However, Game of Thrones taught us not to underestimate our opponents. In a way, there were lessons taken from Amazon Prime’s Hanna. The smaller women are always underestimated, but they’re deadly. Arya’s training made her stealthy enough to get through the wights and White Walkers and defeat the Night King.

His arrogance made it impossible for him to even believe that could possibly happen. With that cockiness, he had no chance of winning at the Battle of Winterfell. He was always doomed to fail.
