8. June has a new commander

I’m curious to see how the season is going to work. Offred – I guess we shouldn’t call her Offred anymore so I’m going to stick with June from now on – has a new commander. June is now in Commander Joseph Lawrence’s house. How has she ended up there?

The last we saw of June, she’d given Emily her baby and told Emily to get Holly to safety. June wasn’t leaving without Hannah. It just so happened that Joseph was the one driving the getaway van. So, I’m assuming that Joseph goes back for June.

But now the question is how June can be in his house. After running away from Fred’s house and taking the baby, surely Fred will be out for blood. He’s not a stupid man and will know that June had something to do with it all, right? So, how can June go about her handmaiden duties for Joseph when Fred will be out for blood?

Does this signal a change in power? And what is the secret that Joseph is hiding? Why is his wife locked to her room? There are so many questions and I don’t know if we can trust this guy.

7. June is starting to lead the resistance

Right now, June is fired up. She’s given up her younger daughter to get her elder daughter, but she’s not just going back for Hannah. She’s ready to lead the resistance – yes, we all know there’s a resistance!

She needs people in the right places to make this a success and The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 trailer gives us a glimpse of the people she may turn to for help. Nick and Serena Joy make sense – although I’m curious at how Nick is still a driver after everything that happened at the end of the last episode – but there’s someone I didn’t expect.

Aunt Lydia is seen a couple of times, one of those while June is saying she needs people in high places. Is Lydia going to turn against the regime that she’s been so devout to? More on that next since it means one major thing.
