6. Aunt Lydia has survived

Emily attacked Aunt Lydia at the end of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2 and we were left wondering about Lydia’s fate. Would she survive?

Well, it turns out she has. Now the question is whether she’ll turn everyone in who helped with the attack – Joseph has clearly covered something up to get Emily out of the country – or whether she’ll work on the side of the resistance.

I feel like all Lydia has ever wanted is to protect her girls. She views the handmaids as her children in a way, and I get the feeling that before Gilead she would have been a teacher or some sort of carer for the young.

Yet, she’s been brainwashed by the regime. What does this mean for June as she tries to raise the resistance? Will the attack help Lydia realize that the regime needs to be pulled down?

5. Serena Joy and June becoming a team

Does it really surprise us that Serena Joy and June are starting to work together? After the end of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2, Serena Joy must realize that Gilead is nothing that she’d hoped it would be.

I get that she wanted to change the country and I don’t blame her one bit for her initial actions in it. I don’t agree with the terrorism but I understood her view considering the situation the country was in at the time. However, this wasn’t what she wanted. She’s lost all power.

Well, not all power. As June points out, Serena Joy is the most powerful of the wives. She can get them to join her. Okay, there’s only power up to a point but, as June suggests, she can move the point.

It’s time for Serena Joy to fight for the world that she actually wanted. Now is the chance for her to stand up to the misogynistic men and do what’s right. Will the other wives get behind her? I really hope so!

If not, Serena Joy may still have the number for the guy from Hawaii. It was a throwaway moment in The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2, so I get the feeling it’ll come up this season after Serena Joy lost a finger.
