The 100 Season 6, Episode 2 picks up with the craziness that the toxin on the planet causes. Meanwhile, Wonkru fight against invaders.

It didn’t take The 100 Season 6 long to pick up with the craziness the toxins caused in people. The group on the ground quickly found themselves affected by the toxin, but they weren’t just a risk to each other. Meanwhile, Wonkru had to deal with invaders and problems among themselves.

I’ll split this recap into two halves since we were split fairly evenly between the planet and the ship storylines. First up is the ship.

Invaders aren’t the problem

It would seem like the people who stole the dropship during The 100 Season 6 premiere would be the ones causing a problem. While they do lock everyone in the mess room, they’re not the immediate threat. Everyone being locked in a room with Octavia is the threat.

Octavia immediately looks to take charge. She’s no longer the Octavia we knew in the earlier seasons. This is a woman who is focused on power and definitely not in a good way. She’s so busy telling people they should be thanking her that she’s not realized she’s become the issue, Enemy #1.

It’s not all that surprising that those who had lost people when Octavia burned the farm are now turning against her. And what a way they do it! A small group gangs together and beats her to a pulp, almost killing her.

It’s Abby who steps in to stop them. She wants Octavia to live with what she’s become.

Meanwhile, Raven realizes there’s only one way to save herself and those locked away. She wakes Diyoza up, which alerts the invaders to someone not in the mess room. When two people show up, Diyoza is able to take them down and kill her.

Now it’s time to get in touch with the other invaders. There are two left threatening to turn off the oxygen to the mess. So, Raven dresses in the invader’s gear to pretend to be one of them. Of course, that doesn’t work but it doesn’t need to be. Raven had woken Madi too, who was able to get through the air vents and into the control room.

With Madi’s surprise entrance, the invaders are taken down until there’s one left. Now it’s time to get some answers and take her back down to her planet.

Onto the planet, which does include the events of the members of the ship that headed down to the planet.

Who would be affected by the toxin?

It didn’t take long for the group to figure out a plan to deal with the effects of the toxins. They each chained themselves to various rooms, staying in pairs with one having the key to the other and vice versa. It should be a good plan, except that they’re not just out to hurt each other.

This toxin is able to force them to hurt each other. Echo manages to tranquilize herself (on purpose) and Bellamy and Clarke tranquilize Jackson and Miller. However, as Bellamy and Murphy fight, Clarke struggles with her mother’s voice over the radio (that’s turned off!) encouraging her to kill herself because she’s evil.

It’s soon clear that these hallucinations aren’t about attacking one another. They appear more to be about deep-rooted fears — Clarke’s fears that she’s really the bad guy, Bellamy’s fear that Murphy and Clarke will eventually try to kill him again, Murphy’s fear that everyone is out to get him, etc.

Saving their people

A small group from the dropship take their prisoner down to the planet. It’s clear the prisoner doesn’t want to go there but getting straight answers out of her is impossible. So, the group, which includes Abby, Jordan, Raven (yes, she finds out about Shaw), and stowaway Octavia, get to the place Clarke and co. are holding up.

When they get there, the eclipse has finished and everyone is sane again. However, Murphy’s pulse is weak and he has black veins around, looking like poison through his body. Do some suffer the effects long term or is it linked to the fact that Murphy drowned?

Whatever it is, it’s clear that the people who lived on the planet know something. This toxin is from the trees — as Clarke had previously guessed — and everyone hides in bunkers during the eclipses. Now they’re allowed out and we see all the children that live on this planet. It’s still thriving but they’re ready to “go home” and think Clarke is there to take them.
