With only a couple episode left in the season, Supergirl has a lot of loose ends to tie up. Will Ben Lockwood meet his demise by the end of it?

Ben Lockwood’s anti-alien agenda has been a cause of tension throughout this season of Supergirl. He went from being imprisoned to working closely with the President. It’s clear that corruption is running rampant in the White House and Lex Luthor has his fair share of fun with it.

While the hunt for Red Daughter and Lex Luthor continues, Supergirl hasn’t been at the forefront of the story. Instead, Kara is using her alter-ego sparingly (and still won’t tell Lena about it). While I admire that Kara wants to actually do her job, it is leaving a lot of people vulnerable to Lockwood’s men. Dreamer might be willing to step up, but it’s a good thing the Martian Manhunter is back in town now.

In “Will the Real Miss Tessmacher Please Stand Up?” we get to see Lockwood shoot himself full of Harun-El, and he doesn’t care that he probably used too much of it. His son, George, was already upset for leaving in the middle of his mother’s funeral and now, Ben could leave his son without both parents.

It’s a selfish move on Ben’s part and he seems to think that he’s doing what he does for his son, but that’s never really believable. He doesn’t use the Harun-El until after he sees that James Olsen is more powerful than he is. While I think Ben Lockwood has been more interesting than Reign was last season, his act is growing tiring as the season starts to wrap up.

There really seem to only be two options for Ben Lockwood at this point in the season. He’ll either end up pumping too much Harun-El into himself and he can’t recover for it or he ends up locked up again. His wife’s death pushed him over the edge, even though his prejudice already had him off-the-rails to begin with.

Despite my dislike for the character, Sam Witwer has played the role well. I think we’ll see the character’s demise mostly because I believe it will give George one final push to being on the side of good. He’s already been pushed towards being an alien sympathizer, but his mother’s death could have easily pushed him back towards following in his father’s footsteps.
