On the latest episode of The Flash, the Star Labs team seemingly had more threats to contend with than they could handle. For more on The Girl With The Red Lightning, check out our recap below.

In The Flash Season 5, Episode 21, the repercussions of Nora embracing the Negative Speed Force become known. She begins shooting out streaks of red during a run to stop Cicada 2 and then becomes enveloped by them in an attempt to telepathically connect with Grace. Barry has to rescue Nora because she becomes unresponsive. He’s able to pull the device from Nora’s head but the long-lasting effects of the negative energy will continue to affect her.

Meanwhile, Team Flash encounters even more dangers as Cicada gathers all the components for a device that’ll kill every metahuman in the city. Caitlyn and Cisco manufacture enough of the cure for the city while Joe administers the doses to citizens at CCPD. The only problem is that people become unruly and these are metahumans who can level the building. Luckily, Joe and Cecile manage to control the precinct.

When Nora gets back into the frame, she and her parents have a serious discussion of trust. They argue over Nora using the Negative Speed Force but they give her the benefit of the doubt in the end. Nora reassures Barry and Iris that she can control the negative energy, yet they remain uncertain. Cisco, however, upgrades the time-trap they used on Thawne to keep the negative energy coursing through Nora contained.

Team Flash set up the machine and everything surprisingly goes according to plan. What’s more, is that the telepathic connection between Nora and Grace reveals that she is actually in control. We had our fears for the young speedster but Nora’s rebuttal to Grace during their conversation shows us exactly where the anger came from, and it wasn’t from XS.

In addition to clearing Nora of corruption by the Negative Speed Force, her look into Grace’s mind gave Team Flash the answer to where she’d be planting the bomb. Unfortunately, it turns out to be the Central City precinct.

Once the team knows that Cicada is targeting the precinct, they rush to the scene. Cicada is already in the precinct and comes very close to killing Joe again. Barry luckily races in to save Joe before he’s stabbed. Team Flash then tackle Cicada all at the same time.

Somehow, the team manages to subdue Grace/Cicada long enough for Cisco to disable the bomb powered by her dagger. With that task complete, they focus on destroying the dagger itself. Barry wastes no time, aiming the mirror gun at Cicada’s dagger. He’s about to fire when Ralph suddenly deduces the root of Thawne’s plan.

Basically, the device will send Thawne the dagger in the future, granting him a possible exit from his prison. Ralph tries to stop Barry but he’s not fast enough. The dagger disappears and the episode draws to a close, setting the stage for next week’s epic season finale.
