What are you watching in theaters this weekend? One of the movies audiences are most excited to check out is Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, now playing in theaters.

Grew up wondering what a world packed with Pokemon would look like? Pokemon: Detective Pikachu makes your childhood dreams come true. The movie follows Tim Goodman as he teams up with a Pikachu to solve the mystery of Tim’s father, Harry Goodman, who is presumed dead.

Hidden Remote caught the movie at an advanced screening earlier this week and we can say it’s highly enjoyable. Detective Pikachu is a buddy-cop movie and mystery for the entire family. Pikachu, voiced by the always hilarious Ryan Reynolds, is nonstop laughs and plays off very well with Tim (Justice Smith).

Together, Tim and Pikachu, who are able to communicate with each other, journey the streets of Ryme City to find Harry. What they uncover is a lot more than they could have imagined. Expect twists, though none too complicated for younger children to comprehend.

Speaking of which, Detective Pikachu is safe for everyone in the family, though I do suggest it only for children over 5-years-old. Not because of anything that goes on in the movie, but kids may find many scenes boring and become restless. As for the audience who’ll enjoy the movie most, it’s definitely longtime fans of Pokemon.

The movie also stars Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Chris Geere, Rita Ora and others. Detective Pikachu is rated Rated PG for action/peril, some rude and suggestive humor, and thematic elements.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is officially in theaters Friday, May 10, but early screenings begin in select theaters Thursday. Are you excited to watch this one? Let us know in the comments!
