Charmed: 5 questions we want Season 2 to answer
By Mads Lennon
In the season finale of Charmed, the sisters were forced to contend with a power-hungry Macy. We have several questions for season 2 of the series.
Macy succumbs to the power of the Source in the season finale of Charmed. In her haste to make things right with her sisters and Galvin, she tries to find the perfect way to unite them all. Her answer is to bring Marisol back to life. But in order to do that she has to contend with a multitude of timelines and alternate realities.
At the end of the day, destiny always asserts itself. The heart of this episode is in the sisters uniting to let Macy know they will never abandon her, that she isn’t an outlier and has been accepted into their family. The finale also leaves plenty of mysteries for Season 2 to explore and unanswered questions hanging in the air.

5. Have we really seen the last of the Source?
Mel and Maggie manage to get through to Macy in the final hour and convince her they truly love her and never intend to abandon her. Macy is able to get her Source powers under control and accept her sisters, once and for all. At that point, the only sensible thing to do is to strip the Source away from Macy and put it into a different vessel — her necklace.
Using the power of three, the Charmed Ones purge the Source from Macy and let the necklace absorb it. It breaks into three pieces. Each sister will take a piece and hide it in the farthest corners of the world. Afterward, Harry will wipe their memories clean. Doesn’t Harry then know where all the pieces are? He would have to if he was the one teleporting them to different places to keep the pieces hidden. It makes me wonder if the writers wanted to keep the Source in play for a potential storyline down the road.
4. What’s next for Mel and Niko?
Niko sits at an outdoor cafe and Mel freezes time to find her there. Niko is the only one who isn’t frozen, meaning she has gotten her ring back and she still knows about magic. But then Mel decides not to approach her even as she lets Niko see her. I believe Mel is choosing to let Niko go and try to move on from her.
As to whether or not that decision will stick, it remains to be seen. I loved Mel x Niko, so I hope they find their way back to each other, but I understand why Niko would need time to figure out if that’s what she wants. Did Niko and Greta wind up getting married? I feel like the answer is probably no, but hopefully, we’ll learn more next season.
3. Will we see Parker again?
With Parker back to square one due to his father’s interference and the death of his mother, he needs to figure out how to get control of his demon half once again. To do so, he decides to leave town for a while. It’s obvious he fears what he could do to Maggie if he were to lose control and he worries about potentially risking her life.
There did seem to be a note of finality to his departure so one has to wonder if this is the end of Maggie and Parker’s arc or if he’ll make his return sometime in Season 2. Given the shifting that will occur behind the scenes with Charmed, it’s hard to guess as to what will happen with their relationship yet.
2. What did Macy read from Harry’s mind?
While imbibed with the power of the Source, Macy was temporarily able to read minds. At one point, she picked up something from Harry. It appeared he was on the verge of making a confession. At the episode’s end, Macy asks if they should talk about what she heard but Harry brushes it off, stating she should forget it happened and they locked arms afterward.
I’m a #Hacy shipper myself so I could be reading into things but it appeared to me like Harry may have been confessing to having feelings for Macy or, at the very least, an attraction to her. I don’t know if it will be followed through in the second season but I’m glad they sort of left it out there to be considered. If not, then what other mysterious things could Macy have picked up on?
1. Who is in charge now?
When the Charmed Ones and Harry arrive home again after visiting Marisol’s grave, they’re greeted by several of the beings they’ve helped out over the course of the season, like Chloe, the pixie. It appears many of the supernatural factions are looking for guidance now that the Elders are gone.
Many of them are expecting to see the Charmed Ones take over since they did just save the world from an impending Apocalypse. What does that mean for their future and their legacy? I’m sure they will face many new threats moving forward as well as people trying to take their place, could it be a magical game of thrones? I’m excited to see how their next chapter unfolds.
Odds & Ends
- There was a nice callback to the original Charmed with Macy using her telekinesis to close the door in the final shot in a similar fashion to what Prue used to do.
- It’s really strange that Jada and the Sarcana storyline were totally dropped after getting killed off. We never got closure on Jada’s character or her relationship with Mel.
- Macy believing Mel has “always been the problem” should probably be addressed at some point. Yes, she was under the influence of the Source when she said it but there is clearly some kind of underlying tension between those two.
Season 2 of Charmed will premiere this fall on The CW. You can catch up on Season 1 right now on the app and expect the first season to debut on Netflix soon!
