iZombie recap: Was Blaine the murderer or was he set up?
Clive suffers a serious work injury, meaning Liv and Ravi take on his murder investigation. Here’s everything that happened in iZombie Season 5, Episode 5.
The episode opens with Blaine threatening his independently wealthy and annoying teenage neighbor. Is he the one to kill the neighbor or is Blaine getting set up? Here’s all that happened in iZombie Season 5, Episode 5, titled “Death Moves Pretty Fast.”
It’s not surprising to find out the annoying kid ends up dead. Okay, he didn’t deserve to be cooked alive in his sauna, but he was “insolent” as Blaine put it. When Clive slips on a Slippery Nipple and possibly breaks his back, it’s up to Liv and Ravi to close the case.

While Blaine is the initial suspect, he seems to have an alibi. Al was still at the house since she was blocked in. However, Al later tells Ravi and Liv that she’d slept in a different room. She doesn’t know if Blaine snuck out — and she’s concerned that Blaine has a history of murdering teens. Of course, she’s still snooping around about Mayor Baracus and that mask.
There’s more to Al, though. As she walks into the morgue, she sneaks a piece of Wealthy Teen Brain. Yes, it looks like Al is a zombie — connected to Baracus in any way?
It’s all about cryptocurrency
Harris managed to make his money through cryptocurrency trading and it all started when he was still in school. Naturally, his economics teacher wasn’t too happy that a 15-year-old had been outsmarted, but is that enough to pin the murder on him? Not quite!
What doesn’t help is fingers are being pointed at Jamie, the ex of Harris’ girlfriend. The two used to be zombies but Harris bought the girlfriend a black market zombie cure and saved her. However, there’s something crazy going on with Jamie. He doesn’t remember anything and he’s not the only one! (More on that in a minute).
Vampire Steve manages to hack into Harris’ social media (iwantottouchyourmonkeys is one crazy password!) It’s just what Liv and Ravi need to post up a clip from Harris’ video will to trick people into thinking Harris wasn’t dead. That’s how they get one of Harris’ friends to admit to the murder.
What’s going on with the zombies?
There’s a problem with many zombies. They’re struggling to remember anything about themselves and their lives. Alzheimer’s Brains have made their way into Seattle. Deadenders are poisoning the brain supply.
Fillmore Graves is commander-less, so Enzo decides to spray water at protestors around the brain dispensaries. When the Alzheimer’s Brain wears off, Major realizes everything that’s happened. Major has to deal with Enzo but he also learns that there are 17 unthawed zombies out there.

Ravi deals with the cure being out
After getting a doctor to agree to keep the news of Isobel’s brain working as a cure a secret, the news gets out. Isobel’s mom decides to tell the reporters about the life that Isobel was able to save. Ravi knows this means that those with the same disease will be hunted down like animals.
When it looks like the case is over, Liv (and Al) gets a vision of Don-E dressed up in a disguise delivering the black market cure to Harris. It’s clear that Blaine was definitely the one to steal the old cures. This could be just what Ravi needs to protect other people.
It may not be enough to protect sick teens, though. Major publications pick up the information about Isobel’s cure.
Odds and ends
- Clive may be Batman — or probably not.
- Al prints a scathing article against Blaine, just before Peyton leaves for Seattle. Things aren’t going to be easy.
- There are a lot of hungry zombies locked up.
