Which movie did you catch in theaters this weekend? Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomped on competitors, but didn’t roar as loud expected.

Aladdin‘s win at the box office was short-lived as the new king in theaters is Godzillabut only passing the Disney feature by roughly $7 million. The numbers are in thanks to Box Office Mojo, here’s how the top 10 movies in theaters performed…

I have to admit, Godzilla‘s win, even though is not as high as expected, is pretty sad with so many other great movies in theaters such as Rocketman, Ma, and Booksmart. The latest Godzilla entry takes $49 million domestically and $130 million overseas, for a grand total of $179 million against its $170 million reported budget.

In second comes Aladdin with $42.3 million, not far behind Godzilla. Worldwide, the Disney feature has collected $445.9 million. Third and fourth are newcomers  Rocketman and Ma, respectively.

The Elton John biopic, starring Taron Egerton, accumulated $25 million domestically and took home another $31.2 million from international sales, for a grand total of $56.2 million against its reported $40 million budget. The numbers are a win for Rocketman, especially with such high praises from both critics and fans.

Ma can’t complain much, either. The Octavia Spencer movie was put together for a reported budget of a small $5 million. With it’s worldwide total of $21 million, it’ll be just fine!
