Five things that should happen in What We Do in the Shadows Season 2 set to air sometime in 2020.

The FX comedy series What We Do in the Shadows inspired by the 2014 film of the same name, finished it’s 10-episode first season on May 29. It has been confirmed to return for a Season 2 in 2020.

Structured like a horror-sitcom, it reminds me of the 1966 soap opera Dark Shadows. There’s no telling where the story can go or what Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor will do next. One day they’re helplessly trapped inside an animal shelter and the next they’re on trial for murder.

More from FX

It’s an incalculable formula. The bizarre unpredictability aided by the character’s almost child-like nature is what makes What We Do in the Shadows such a fresh, fun show to watch as it takes the common tropes of vampirism and shows what complications it would bring the average person.

In Season 1 we were introduced to the new vampire quartet and their odd little familiar, we were shown new breeds of vampires and some of their customs, such as their bi-annual orgy treated like a sex-heavy Thanksgiving. Season 2 can only get crazier and other than the obvious things like more Nadja and Laszlo domesticity and Nandor acting like a spoiled king, there are at least five things we hope to see next season.

5. More Jenna

Jenna, former LARPer and recently turned baby vampire, is a character that I hope to see more of in Season 2, if not for the sake of having more Beanie Feldstein, but because Jenna is one of the more entertaining supporting characters in the series. Though the show has never really ever had any boring characters, even the most boring man alive Colin Robinson is hysterical in the context of each scene, but Jenna stands out because of her innocent relatability and the perspective she provides.

Jenna probably resembles in personality most of the young woman that watch this show. She’s shy, nerdy, awkward, dressed in mostly sweatshirts and wears almost no make-up. Not to mention how invisible she feels, which is a feeling almost everyone has experienced at least once in their life.

She’s the human introduced into the supernatural world, a literal before and after infomercial for vampirism. She’s still young so it can be expected that she’ll do what most newly made vampires do which is trying to live a normal life. This opens up the possibility for a type of “fish out of water” experience as Jenna tries to balance her dual natures.

With Jenna’s unique ability of invisibility, the show has given her character lots of free range. There’s a lot her ability can accomplish and there might come a time when Nadja will require the use of her prodigy.
