iZombie recap: Who is the mole inside Filmore-Graves?

When a restaurant chef that nobody likes is murdered, Liv ends up on an insufferable brain. Here’s everything that happened in iZombie Season 5, Episode 7.

It’s a case of an insufferable brain for Liv in iZombie Season 5, Episode 7, as she and Clive try to find out who killed a restaurant chef that everyone hated. Meanwhile, Major has to figure out who is working against him and the zombie cure inside brains comes up again.

If only it was all about those problems. It’s time to delve into “Filleted to Rest.”

We open with Ravi and Liv making their way to the latest crime scene. The head chef, who is hated by everyone, has been killed by suffocation. The catch is she was never restrained, so it makes no sense until it turns out that she was killed with blunt force trauma thanks to a frozen pork loin.

However, the owner of the restaurant is more concerned with the 12 missing brains from the fridge. Well, with so many zombies in Seattle, it makes sense to be worried about the brains, but he shows no concern for his head chef.

When Liv eats the chef’s brain, it’s clear why people hated her. A few home truths are shared. Hopefully, nobody will take it all personal and treat this like just another brain.

The focus for Liv has to be on the case, even when her mom shows up at the hospital (where she is for Clive, which you can find out more about in this iZombie recap). Yes, her mom! And can I say that it’s about time?

It’s not a positive interaction. Liv’s mom (and brother) is still angry with the way Liv just walked away when Evan needed blood with no explanation. It’s understandable that they were angry but you would have thought they’d understand now that the truth about zombies are out.

However, this interaction brings something else up out of the blue. Uncle Art was never Liv and Evan’s father. Their dad was some junkie who is now homeless and begging for change somewhere in Seattle.

Well, he used to be. At the end, we find out he’s the one leading the human-hating zombies.

Break-in at Filmore-Graves

Meanwhile, Major has a problem. Remember the socialite who was turned after accidentally dying in iZombie Season 4? Well, she’s back because Major wants to use her to prevent the government from nuking Seattle.

While that happens, there’s a break-in at Filmore-Graves. A number of zombies are killed and some of the frozen zombies (including Enzo) are taken. It’s time to get to the bottom of this problem and it turns out Justin Bell may be the mole. Really? Sadly, yes and Major has no choice but to kill him.

The zombies taking the militant zombies from deep freeze don’t believe that it’s possible for humans and zombies to live together. It looks like they’re starving zombies to put all the humans at risk and to bring about the zombie apocalypse.

Odds and ends:

• Clive is promoted to acting chief while Dale is out on maternity leave and Michelle is promoted to detective to replace him.
• Michelle is injured on the job and has marked Clive as the father of her child. He’s probably not, according to her, but he’s the sweetest guy she knows and knew he’d be a reliable emergency contact. She doesn’t expect anything from him, though.
• Ravi and Charlie are the only ones looking out for the kids with the disease that can cure the zombie virus. However, they’re becoming friends over Skype, as Ravi helps to her reconnect with her identical twin sister. Ravi is a sweetie.
• The murderer turned out to be the dishwasher, who is also a closet zombie.
• One of the killer zombie teams is in Renegade’s team.
