Game of Thrones: Even Lena Headey isn’t happy about Cersei’s death
By Sandy C.
After seven amazing seasons, Game of Thrones fans were expecting a mindblowing end for the biggest villain in the series, Cersei Lannister. Unfortunately, Cersei’s death is one of the biggest letdowns of all-time.
Yes, I do dare say Cersei Lannister’s death is one of the biggest disappointments in television history, not just Game of Thrones. That’s just how I and millions of other fans of the show feel after watching Lena Headey’s iconic character be killed by debris.
There are also many stories the final season of Game of Thrones skips and never mentions again, leaving us wondering wth all that was. But, let’s not get into all of that now before many feelings rush back — the focus here is Cersei Lannister.
If there’s one thing Game of Thrones never disappointed in, it’s character deaths. Some of the best, most unexpected, totally brutal character endings are featured on the series. Naturally, we were expecting something awesome for Cersei Lannister. Even those who enjoyed the final season can agree Cersei deserved better.

Now that the series has wrapped, even Headey herself has come out to tell us how she truly feels. In an interview with The Guardian, the actress says she wanted “a better death” for Cersei and was “gutted” by how it ended for her character. Join the club. She continues:
"“Obviously you dream of your death,” she says. “You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.”"
On a happy note, we loved learning (in the same interview) that she and many other cast members are all part of a “giant WhatsApp group” and keep in touch daily. Gotta love when you greatly admire a cast and then find out they are actual friends off-set.
