Annabelle Comes Home is now playing in theaters bringing new chills and extending the Conjuring universe. Where does the movie leave the story?

Annabelle Comes Home is the latest in the Conjuring franchise and the third movie focusing on the sinister doll, Annabelle. It is now playing in select theaters with a wide release date for Wednesday, June 26. If you haven’t seen it yet, please note there are spoilers ahead!

Comes Home follows Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they seal Annabelle in their home for the first time. They quickly enlist a trusted babysitter, Mary Ellen (Madison Iseman) to watch their daughter Judy (Mckenna Grace) as they head out to their next assignment.

The Warren’s are only leaving for one day, but that’s enough for Annabelle to do a lot of damage if anyone were to release her — and that’s exactly what happens. Mary Ellen’s friend Daniela (Katie Sarife) sneaks into the room and puts her hands on everything and anything she can reach.

Once Annabelle is removed from the case, the doll unleashes her powers to summon the darkest and most evil spirits and demons in the room. How does it all end? Final spoiler warning!

While most movies in the franchise end on a cliffhanger or tease that the evil is still looming, Comes Home is pretty straight forward! In Comes Home, everything wraps up nicely.

Annabelle is locked away again thanks to Judy, Mary Ellen, and Daniela working together. Audiences get the impression that the doll may return. Until she is destroyed (which the Warren’s claim will make everything worse) there’s always a possibility she will be released again.

Does the perfect finale mean this is the end of the Annabelle series? It would be a nice conclusion to the trilogy and allow for other chapters in the Conjuring franchise to be made. What’s your take? Would you like to see more of the evil doll or prefer to move on to other installments?
