Watch Midsommar: Now playing in theaters

Ari Aster’s Midsommar is now playing in theaters everywhere — will you be watching it this week?

The hauntingly beautiful Midsommar from Ari Aster has been a hot topic for weeks, before even premiering in theaters. The trailers alone, not to mention the fact that it’s from the minds behind Hereditary, are enough to cause viewers to speculate on what the hell is going on in front of their eyes.

We’ve seen the movie, and trust us, this is not one you want to miss. Midsommar is definitely a movie you need to watch as soon as you can or you’ll be risking the movie being spoiled for you if you go online. Not to mention, everyone at work will likely be chatting about it.

Keep in mind, however, this movie is not for everyone. If you enjoyed the dark and twisted nightmare that is Hereditary, expect Midsommar to be even more shocking. The first half is slow and funny, in a dark way, but the second half really picks up and at a pace you won’t see coming.

You will be walking out of the theater traumatized, but loving every second of it. Don’t believe the movie is that similar to Hereditary, though. It’s truly its own thing and a lot more disturbing than frightening.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the movie follows Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor), a couple on the verge of a breakup, only still together due to a recent tragedy. Christian is all Dani has left, but can’t help feel like a burden and Christian is clearly unhappy.

The couple and a few friends go to Sweden (Dani invites herself) to participate and learn more about a festival that is held every 90 years. In an instant, the celebrations go from alluring to an amplified terror.
