All eyes have been on the name and release date for the WarnerMedia streaming service. Those details are now out, along with the exclusive programming.

When WarnerMedia announced its plans to bring a new streaming service, there were some groans. To be honest, there are still some groans. There are plenty of streaming services already out there. However, one thing that has kept people talking is the fact that we’ve known nothing about this upcoming service, not even a name.

That changes today. WarnerMedia has now unveiled its name for the service and plans for the release. We even get to know the exciting shows that will come to the streaming service — most of them, as expected, exclusive to the streaming service.

It all starts with the name, according to a recent press release. The streaming service will be called HBO Max, with the intention to offer a “Maximized” experience. There will be a number of “Max Originals”, along with the service becoming the exclusive home to Warner Bros. Studios content.

As for the release, WarmerMedia is looking at spring 2020. No exact date or even month has been shared yet, and it isn’t clear if this will be a U.S. only release or if there are plans to release everything internationally. Due to international licensing rights, outside the U.S. may get the streaming platform but with some exclusions in programming, similar to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming services.

So, what’s coming to the service? There’s so much to explore.
