Euphoria is in the middle of airing its first season and we spoke with show stars Tyler and Tristan Timmons who play troublemakers Roy and Troy.

HBO is dipping into the teen drama pool with their new break-out hit series, Euphoria. The show is based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name and stars Zendaya in the title role of Rue Benett, a 17-year-old struggling to recover from a drug addiction that almost killed her.

The series also stars Maude Apatow, Storm Reid, Eric Dane, Jacob Elrodi, Barbie Ferreira, Tristan and Tyler Timmons, Angus Cloud, Alexa Demie, and Hunter Schafer.

What makes Euphoria such a stand out in a television space clogged with prestige dramas is its unabashed look at the controversial subject matter. The show is not shy about showcasing nudity, the harsh side effects of drug usage, and sex. Despite all the characters being underage (the actors are all adults, however).

More from HBO

Because of its salacious, jaw-dropping, and stunning debut, Euphoria has become incredibly popular on social media. Even though the first season still airing, HBO has already renewed the series for a second season.

We were lucky enough to chat with two of the show’s stars, Tristan and Tyler Timmons, who play twins Roy and Troy on the series.

If you’ve watched the show, you know the twins are always up to no good. We got the chance to talk about what it’s like for the real-life brothers to play the daring, yet entertaining, troublemakers on Euphoria.

Hidden Remote: What initially drew you guys to Euphoria?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: We didn’t really know too much about the project when we first auditioned. We were just completing auditions. We didn’t find out we actually got the part until about four months after.

Hidden Remote: How did you guys find out you booked the show? What was your initial reaction when you did?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: We did the audition around March 2018. We didn’t find out we were booked until May 2018. We found out because our agents called and told us to come down to the office.

We met them there, and they were like, “yeah we want to tell you guys that Euphoria is heavily considering you. Basically, you have the role. Good job.” We were like, “Oh, snap! We did it!”

Hidden Remote: Do you guys enjoy the experience of being twins in real life and then playing twins on television?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: Working together as twins playing twins was our dream. It’s a dream job for us. It’s the best thing because I know him and he knows me. We can play off each other easily and make it look great.

Hidden Remote: Your characters are troublemakers on the show. What do you think motivates them to be so mischevious?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: They like being dangerous. I think they want to be older so bad and do what grown people do, and what the older kids do, so they’re mimicking them.

Hidden Remote: Have you guys come up with a backstory for them, or do you think we’ll get more of a backstory for them?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: You’ll get more of a backstory as the show goes on for sure.

Hidden Remote: That’s awesome to hear. Recently, you guys found out the show was renewed for another season. Is there anything specifically that you would like to see in season two?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: Nothing, in particular, just more jaw-droppers and outlandish scenarios. Season one was amazing, and season two will get better. That’s all we expect.

Hidden Remote: Speaking of jaw-droppers, what do you guys think about how shocking the show is?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: I think all the controversy it causes, and stuff that people have never seen on tv before, adds to how great the show is and why you should watch it!

Hidden Remote: Along those lines, what do you think it is about Euphoria that is resonating with people?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: I feel like it’s the cast. We all get along together so well. When you see us together on-screen, we look like we actually know each other as the characters know each other.

Hidden Remote: You guys have a Youtube channel, do you think that helped shape you as actors at all?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: I wouldn’t say it helped with the role necessarily, but it helped us get used to being in front of the camera.

Hidden Remote: Last question, if you guys had to pick a dream project to work on what would it be?

Tyler and Tristan Timmons: A House Party reboot with Tristan and me as the main characters. That’s like my dream job. It would make me so happy.

Hidden Remote: Thank you guys so much for chatting with me and good luck!
