9. Trainwreck

Original Release Date: July 17, 2015

Box Office Earnings: A solid hit in the comedy genre, Trainwreck earned over $140 million worldwide off of a $35 million budget, which is far from an actual trainwreck. It was enough to make the film the third highest grossing comedy of the year.

Critical Acclaim: Across the board, Trainwreck was a big success. Not only does it boast a solid 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it also picked up a handful of award nominations, like Best Actress and Best Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes, and Best Ensemble Cast at the MTV Movie Awards, which everyone knows it the most important award show.

About the Role: Brie Larson plays Kim, Amy Schumer’s sister in the film and although her role isn’t as big as we’d like, she’s the one who helps her sister during stressful times and supports her, all while encouraging Amy to grow to be a better person.

Simply the Best: Obviously, the movie stars Amy Schumer and a lot of the movie’s success lies with her, but Brie Larson is the anchor that holds the whole movie together. Without Larson, the movie wouldn’t have an emotional heart at its center so her role is incredibly important. Both Schumer and Larson’s characters have been messed up by their father, but Larson shows how to move on from such trauma and live a successful life.
