Mayans MC: 5 big questions after Xbalanque

Mayans MC is off to an amazing start for the second season. There are some very pressing questions after the first episode.

If you’re a fan of Mayans MC and expected things to pick up where they left off, the start of the second season is good news. It’s every bit as intriguing and engaging as it was before.

The crew didn’t rest, however, because there is plenty more occurring to stir up new drama. Here are five questions after “Xbalanque.”

1. The theme song

Let’s get right to it. Does anyone like the new theme song? It feels completely out of place.

It’s too soft, too feminine, for such a rugged show. The outcry on social media about the new song is not very positive, and a switch back to the theme song from the first season should happen immediately.

Sometimes you take an ill-advised shot and it’s an air-ball. Get back in the layup line and give the fans what they want.

2. Pretend partnerships

Potter has his DEA guys—former military ops—ready to crash a house, and the Mayans MC is helping the raid. Their on the hunt for Los Olvidados and Adelita. Exactly how long have the club and the feds been working together?

Thankfully, Marcus Alvarez did some recon beforehand and the group attacks a house full of human traffickers. Bishop and others shoot computers, plant evidence (fake hard drives, fake propaganda), and keep up the ruse otherwise.

After betraying and killing multiple operators just to save one of Adelita’s soldiers, with EZ just strangling the last one, it’s only a matter of time before the connections are made and the charade is over.

3. Adelita

Speaking of Adelita, she’s very, very pregnant. Who is the father!?

Are we supposed to assume Angel is about to have a child? Or is he hanging around despite being the third wheel? If he is the father, then the connection between the Mayans and Los Olvidados just got more dangerous.

Otherwise, whose kid could it be? Did Adelita have a fling with Miguel Galindo? One thing is for certain, Emily is definitely salty about all the time the two spend together.

4. Happy

Did he kill Marisol Reyes? That’s the ultimate question. While the Patch Vote is weighing heavily on EZ’s mind, who killed his mother is paramount. In fact, it’s how EZ and Angel may patch their differences. He tells Angel, “I know who killed her,” but there is still some doubt.

Happy has a trunk full of stuff that includes information sheets on Marisol and Felipe Reyes. Apparently he had detailed breakdowns. Was he supposed to kill them? Protect them? Time will tell.

5. Fire

What in the world happened to Dita!? There was a fire of some kind, but how was she left taking the majority of the damage? That burn scarring is horrendous. Expect it to be consequential in the very near future.

The one real question I need answering is how the clubs dish out punishment. The Tucson drug-splitter died via OD after being given a lethal dosage as punishment for his misdeeds. So if someone steals money do they get melted metal poured on them like Game of Thrones? What about someone who is involved with prostitution? Yikes.
