Jonah Hill is rumored to be in talks to be a villain in the upcoming Batman, and there’s a bunch of bad guys he can be if you use your imagination.

There have been no less than nine Batman movies since the 1960s not including any of the Batman animated films and the animated series. It seems that we can’t get away from the Dark Knight or that we never will. There’s no denying our obsession with DC’s famed superhero since Matt Reeves will be directing a brand new movie that is still in the works.

For the latest Batman film, Robert Pattinson is on board to portray a young Bruce Wayne by day and masked vigilante by night. But as of late, there is a new rumor circulating that Jonah Hill is in talks to take on the part of a major villain. According to Deadline, Hill hasn’t solidified any contracts, but he’s definitely discussing becoming a Batman nemesis with the producers of the film.

More from Movies

As soon as the news broke, fans on social media quickly decided that Hill should be playing the part of Penguin. This is because of Penguin’s canon looks compared to Hill’s appearance several years ago. Rather than determining what role best fits Hill by physical presentation, I suggest thinking outside the box and hoping for Hill to use his dexterity as an actor to play a character for its complexities.

In considering the best villain for Hill, we also have to think about the obstacle that stands before Reeves. Reeves risks recreating the wheel, especially since this isn’t Batman‘s first rodeo on the silver screen. And if Reeves wants his movie to stand out from all the rest, he’s going to have to do something different.

Where Reeves can get a good start is envisioning the most unlikely actors in a new light, and he can start with Hill. These are the Batman villains that Hill could play with the right makeup artists and a boost of creativity.

Riddler

Jim Carrey introduced a Riddler on edge, which was funny no matter how obsessive he was with getting to Batman. Hill, on the other hand, could explore a Riddler that is obsessive with his puzzles to the point of being dark. But that doesn’t mean that Hill has to be too severe, on account of Hill’s sarcasm could work wonders for the Riddler.

Joker

There have been a few versions of Batman’s greatest adversary in the past Batman movies. Not to mention the Joker adaptations that appear in the Joker solo movie and the Suicide Squad. But an already tatted funny man like Hill could put a spin on the comical maniac that parades as a clown with a kill streak.

The Mad Hatter

All of Batman’s villains suffer from some form of madness, but The Mad Hatter’s condition is more in the vein of a bad trip on LSD. Hill’s work in The Wolf of Wall Street instantly comes to mind because of his extraordinary performance.  He acted out the effects of being on a paralyzing drug like quaaludes with utter confidence.

The Ventriloquist

We’ve never seen the Ventriloquist in a movie, but he’s basically a mafia boss with multiple personalities. Arnold Wesker is a wimp that couldn’t hurt a fly, but his other personality is a boss that comes to life through the wooden dummy that Wesker carries at all time. Hill could play the double personality and would be very funny if he were to carry on conversations with a wooden dummy.

Penguin

If Hill is destined to play the Penguin, I’d like to see a different take on the bird-like villain. Hill can keep the monocle and the posh clothes but I would like a spin on the character as dramatic as the version of Penguin in Gotham.  Let Penguin be a little mad and still aware of having manners except when it comes to fighting Batman.
